May 16, 2002 Troy Tolley, Channel You and your attitude [M_Entity] Hello to all of you. We are here. We understand the topic to be that of Attitudes as they are defined within our teaching. Of course, there are 7 Attitudes, as there are 7 of every other Overleaf in our system. The 7 Attitudes are the Neutral or Assimilative PRAGMATIST, the Inspirational Stoic and Spiritualist, the Expressional Skeptic and Idealist, and the Actional Cynic and Realist. The Attitudes are specifically your personal means to interpret reality. The Attitudes could easily be said to be The 7 Basic Philosophies, as much of what is our more complete system now has been found isolated in various teachings throughout the ages. Each Attitude can easily find a correlation of a philosophy, which can shed a great deal of light on your personal Attitude. The Attitude could be said to be the “pivot” or “hinge” within our Personality System around which all other facets of your Personality move. Because the Attitude is intrinsically linked to your Intellect, the Attitude can “make or break” your sense of peace, trust, wholeness, etc. Whether you are Intellectually Centered or not, you still have an Intellect, and that Intellect works hard to interpret and make sense of reality. So, too, does your Attitude. It will go a long way toward freeing you from the traps of the Attitude and Intellect if you understand that it is not necessarily “the point” to “make sense” of reality, because literally, it is the opposite: your senses MAKE reality. Though we say your Attitude “interprets” reality, it may be more effective to understand that your Attitude “filters” reality. Both are valid descriptions. Though an Attitude is far from an imposition, it CAN be a limitation if you find you are not able to function within your ;particular Attitude's full spectrum of use. It can easily be said that, from the absolute worst struggles, to the most trivial of frustrations, these experiences are directly a reflection of how you are using your Attitude. When your Attitude is in its Negative Pole, regardless of what that may be, you have determined that you have completed your need for input for your basic philosophical stance. When the Negative Pole of the Attitude is in control, reality loses its creativity and flexibility, and instead becomes a tangled mess that must be understood immediately, even if the means to do so have not even come to pass. We can speak generally of Attitudes because the basic experience is quite consistent; it is the HOW of it all that is different among them. For instance, an Idealist in the Negative Pole and a Cynic in the Negative Pole will both share the struggle of trying to understand something within a limitation of input, but the Idealist will “naively” bumble his way through, while the Cynic will use “denigration” to destroy anything outside his comprehension. In the case of the Cynic, we do not mean an attempt to literally destroy, but that the Cynic will actively fight to remove any contradictions from his determined perception. In the case of each Axis of Attitude, you will find when they are in the Negative Pole, the reaction of the Attitude is to eliminate the Positive Pole experiences. When the Stoic is “resigned,” he will use inspiration to lead others into resignation, to validate his own perceptions. The Spiritualist will use inspiration to impose his beliefs on others as strongly as possible, to remove the need for verifying his perceptions. The Skeptic will simply express strong suspicions, riling others into an insecure space of perception, to remove the need for investigation. The Idealist will naively take on lofty goals and intentions, either with or without awareness, setting himself up for failure, so as to remove the experience of coalescence, which is the bringing together of parts to make a whole. The Cynic will actively remove all that contradicts his own determined perception. The Realist will insist that her perceptions are based in fact, even against the strongest of feedback that she is inaccurate, so as to remove her from having to be Objective. In addition, the Pragmatist will continue doing things, thinking about things, expressing things, exactly as they have worked for her to her satisfaction, regardless of the fact that input is dictating that there are more practical ways for the same things. The reason the Negative Pole is so strongly interested in eliminating the Positive Pole experiences is because the Attitude is the “brother or sister” to the Chief Features. We speak of these traits with anthropomorphic descriptions, only for the sake of relating, but we do not wish for you to mistake this means of description as if these parts of you are a separate consciousness. We do not say that they are, nor do we imply that they are. Because of our limitation of time, we will quickly point out what we believe may be the most important concern for your understanding of the Attitudes. Since the Attitude can be your prison or your means to complete freedom, we believe that when you are struggling in any area of your life, the first place to look would be to your Attitude. In understanding your Attitude, you would clearly be able to see that you may be in the Negative Pole, but the fastest and most effective means to move yourself out of it, is simply to choose a different angle of perception. Since the Attitude, while in the Negative Pole, so intently seeks to remove the experience of the Positive Pole of your Attitude, the “trick” is to use the Positive Pole of the Attitude that shares your Axis. If the effort is made, within minutes your life can change; or at least your attitude toward it, which can then lead to changing your life. When the Spiritualist is lost in her Beliefs and continues to find she is blocked from real, fulfilling Verification of her perceptions, it can free her to “slide” to the Positive Pole of Stoicism, which would be Tranquility. When Belief is in control, there is usually a strong need to get others to share in the belief, even if you, yourself have not Verified its place in your life. When the Spiritualist slides to Tranquility, she relaxes and surrenders gently to her perceptions. This then allows her to Verify things for herself, instead of finding others to do it for her. On the other hand, the Stoic may have given up on his life, resigning, which is a passive stance to the life. If he were to slide to Verification, he would be able to find that much of what he has resigned himself to is not even valid anymore as an imposition. We may not be able to go through all of the Attitudes with examples, but we will note that the Pragmatist has the ability to slide to ANY of the other Attitudes as a means to free himself from Dogma. We will now take any questions you may have, so we can respond to you, rather than use your time teaching what may already be available in print. QUESTIONS [MDFSage_Val] Can you describe a “spectrum of use” for an Idealist, or is this more an individual fragment thing/issue? [M_Entity] An Idealist lives within the spectrum of being “cursed” and “blessed” with the constant want for improvement. The Idealist has such a wider vision of most things that he can see patterns where others cannot. Within those patterns, he can also see how they can be improved, manipulated, or altered for the better. The struggle then comes from the Idealist being able to see the big picture, but not putting the effort into defining the STEPS it will take to get there. Therein lies the spectrum from Naivety to Coalescence. An Idealist can see that he has potential to run a marathon, but instead of taking the steps to prepare, he simply, naively runs in the marathon, until he collapses from the pain he could have avoided. [Suzanne] Michael, How would be best for an idealist & a spiritualist to relate to each other, one expresses while the other inspires? [M_Entity] The Spiritualist will always interpret relationships in terms of how inspiring they are, while the Idealist will interpret the relationships in terms of how much improvement is coming from them. [Suzanne] Rather interesting, as it can compliment. [M_Entity] If the Spiritualist feels her relationships are not inspiring, or that she is not inspiring, she will lose interest. The Idealist must feel as if the relationships are somehow improving each other, or he will feel they are not worth it. [Suzanne] Thank you, I understand better now [M_Entity] We are using pronouns randomly, for the sake of grammar. We are not intending anything to be specifically assigned to a gender. [Suzanne] Understood that too, thanks. [M_Entity] The Spiritualist could be said to be “cursed” and “blessed” with the philosophy that everything has potential. Within that spectrum, you will find the experiences ranging from blind faith or belief to valid verification of those potentials. We will point out one last point for your consideration before concluding tonight. When you are in the Negative Pole of your Attitude, you may find you are behaving more and more like the Attitude sharing your Axis, or attracting, or attracted to, those who share your Axis. This is your inherent move toward balance in perception and even if this is done without awareness, it manages, at least, to continue to give the option of choosing how you interpret your reality. So, an Idealist may tend to be very critical and skeptical as a means to balance his Idealism; the Spiritualist may find she is becoming less and less emotional and more passive as she seeks balance for her Beliefs. We shared as much as we could within your time allotted. We have much more to say about this topic, of course. We will conclude here. Good Night to all of you.
ENERGY REPORT JULY - AUGUST 2011 2011 Overleaves are: ROLE: PRIEST (emphasized all year) CENTER: MOVING (emphasized all year) GOAL: FLOW (emphasized Jan - Mar) MODE: CAUTION (emphasized Apr - Jun) ATTITUDE: PRAGMATIST sliding to Cynic and Skeptic (emphasized Jul - Sep) CHIEF FEATURES: Impatience/Martyrdom (emphasized Oct - Dec) JULY marks the shift of emphasis for the year from that of Caution Mode, to that of the Attitude of Pragmatist. As the year “unfolds,” each element of our interpretation of the year builds upon itself, so that the actions that set in motion the Goal for the year are then built upon for the exploration of inspirational elements of the Mode and relationships, and those give rise to how the expressive Attitude for the year plays out. Depending upon the collective work of holding the Attitude in the Positive Pole, the “season” of Chief Features can either be mild, or devastating, either on individual levels or collectively. Again, regardless of your own Overleaves, if you participate in the world in any way, the collective forces that are generated in patterns, here described in Oveleaves, will be a force to which you contribute, and from which you will be influenced. For instance, July marked the shift into Pragmatism. Even if your Attitude is Idealism or Realism, the emphasis in “the world” on the spectrum of that Pragmatism brings is going to be a part of everyone’s dynamic as part of the scheme of things. The Attitude is our way of describing one’s basic philosophy, or one’s basic filter for interpreting the world, and how one tends to bring that philosophy into the world. Pragmatism is basically the philosophy of theorizing, experimenting with those theories, and then choosing the most practical. Pragmatism is the building up of theories from the processing of one’s own experiences, and then applying those theories to substantiate them, which gives rise to new experiences, which then give rise to new theories, and so on. However, Pragmatism is not just about the collection of one’s own experiences, but the consideration and inclusion of other people’s experiences and theories along the way. It is through the experimentation and application of all theories that Pragmatism is healthy as an Attitude, or is in the Positive Pole of Practical, or Efficient. Pragmatism is not about convenience or lazy interpretations, when in the Positive Pole, but a consideration of a multitude of perceptions that can work, could work, or has worked, and then choosing from those the most Practical, through experimentation. When Pragmatism falls into the Negative Pole, there is no Practice (practical), no Efficiency, and certainly very little consideration of alternative theories to one’s own. There is only Prejudice, Presumption, or Dogmatism. These words not only describe the lack of validation of the theories, but describes the blocking of challenges to one’s theories, including the very nature of varying contexts. When Pragmatism falls into Dogma, one’s perspective is locked in a way that leaves little room for the consideration of even one’s own new experiences, or alternative perspectives, that could update or clarify the original theories so that they are capable of being validated, useful, Practical. A simplistic example might be one who “knows” that he can get on the other side of a wall, because he knows that others have done so, so he rams himself into the wall. This is an experience that tells this person that ramming into the wall is probably not the most efficient or practical means for applying his theory that one can get to the other side. The Pragmatist in the Positive Pole would then try to climb it, or crawl through a window, or use the door, or just go around it, or all of the above, comparing each experience to determine the most practical solution, but also including feedback and experiences from those around him so that he can experiment with those, too. The Pragmatist in the Positive Pole knows that the shortest distance between two points is not always a straight line, so to speak. The Pragmatist in the Negative Pole may simply continue to ram himself against the wall, eventually busting through, and then insists that this is the only way, or the best way, or the way that works, because it worked for him. Eventually. As July’s pattern came up, Pragmatism has come up strong in the Negative Pole, being played out in a multitude of ways in the media, particularly in terms of Politics. What works for one group, regardless of whether it works for another, are coming head to head in a most profound way. It should be noted here that all transitions into a new emphasis tend to “enter” from the Negative Pole, and then work toward the Positive Pole. It is not uncommon, then, for a Pragmatist year to have a period of Dogmatism before then moving into Practicality. Also, keep in mind that all Assimillative Overleaves “slide” to the other Overleaves as a means for manifestation. All Assimillative Overleaves are rather transparent, if you will, and though defined in their own right, tend to require other means through which to apply that definition. So the Pragmatist, then, would “slide” to the Attitude that is most Practical for the occasion, or the most useful for digging in to Dogmatism. Though an Assimillative Overleaf can use any other Overleaf in that category, a person will tend to choose one or two as habitual places to slide. 2011 shows that the collective pattern for the Pragmatist Attitude is to slide to Cynic and Skeptic. With Pragmatism currently in a state of Dogma, the way it would show up in the world, then, is through the Denigration and Suspicion that are hallmarks of the Negative Poles of Cynic and Skeptic, respectively. Cynicism is ultimately a philosophy of virtue, or the capacity for discerning and living the truth through active opposition, and Skepticism is the philosophy of doubt, or questioning through expressive means. When Cynicism is in the Positive Pole, opposition comes in the form of Contradiction, which is simply the bringing of attention to the flipside of the status quo, or the obvious. This Contradiction is solely for the purpose of presenting alternative perspectives so that the truth can be discerned. Contradiction is an invitation. When Cynicism is in the Negative Pole, it is no longer concerned with discerning the truth, but is more concerned with imposing one’s truth, which is automatically adjusted to be whatever is opposing the truths of others. This is Denigration. The cutting down of the opposition for the sake of countering his truth. When Skepticism is in the Positive Pole, doubt and questioning comes in the form of Investigation, which is an expressive means for gathering information, whereas the Negative Pole of Suspicion is still doubt and questioning, but without the communication and media of expression. Investigation asks the questions, while Suspicion keeps the questions to himself. Over July and August, one might see these elements playing out in Politics, with Dogmatism being held fast through Denigration and Suspicion. In one’s persona life, however, these same qualities may come into focus and influence, as well. The way we have seen this show up for our students is mostly in a profoundly personal way, so that the Denigration and Suspicion are within, toward the self. It could be said that because the world is moving through a phase of doubt and opposition, those tuned in to it will find they also move through a phase of doubt and opposition. The more one is hooked into the world, the more one’s phase of doubt and opposition within will parallel the methods at large, which means many of our students are going through a phase of butting their heads and hearts up against the walls of their own Dogma, and then Denigrating themselves or drowning their intentions in Suspicion. In other words, many of our students are dealing with a phase of processing failures, let downs, disappointing revisits to old patterns, set backs, etc. This may also apply to personal relationships, for some, and this might show up as feeling disappointed in someone else, seeing someone else as a let down, stuck in old patterns, failing. Whether within or between yourself and others, all of this might be played out through the butting of heads, hearts, and the insistence on one way being THE way. It will be quite important to remember that this is a phase. It is a natural part of the exploration of the Pragmatist Attitude for the year, and is revealing to all involved that there is MORE THAN ONE WAY. If any of the symptoms above resonate with our students, then it is a signal that this is a key consideration for help in moving back into the Positive Pole energies of the year: THAT THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY. And you will not comprehend the alternatives by simply digging into to Dogma, defending it with Denigration and Suspicion. To move into Practicality and Efficiency, away from Dogma, it will mean moving into seeing the opposite of what you think you see (Contradiction) and asking the questions that need to be asked (Investigation). Though we will offer the following, keep in mind that these are only for consideration, and that if you choose not to use these, you will survive as you make your own choices that are suited for your own paths of exploration. Helpful thoughts over JULY and AUGUST might be: 1) THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY HOME We have already stated that “there is more than one way,” but here we add “home.” We use the word “home” here, because for most who struggle with flexibility of perspective, it is almost always from a state of investment in what feels safe. However familiar your path to safety, or Home, there will always be other ways. You do not have to give up your sense of safety or Home, but you must consider all the ways you can get there, and when you wish for others to share in your Home, or your state of comfort and safety, you must consider that they will find their own way. And that they may not. 2) BUTTING HEADS OR HEARTS DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE BEHIND We realize this is a rather clever pun, and it was intended as such, however, the serious nature of the statement remains. If you find you are bumping up against blockages, walls, obstacles, old patterns, whether within or between yourself and another, it does not mean someone has failed, or that someone has fallen backwards; it simply means that it is time to evaluate the possibility for new ideas, applying and experimenting with new theories, and opening to alternative perspectives. 3) WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK YOUR QUESTIONS “out loud.” For those of you who have fallen into doubt as your means of sustaining or defending Dogma, it may be time to ask the questions you fear asking, or asking the questions you may not have considered asking. It may be an important step toward freeing yourself into a more Practical perspective. 4) WHEN IN OPPOSITION, INVITE THE TRUTH, do not impose it. For those who have fallen into oppositions that have led them to stand sturdy and strong with their truth as a defense of Dogma, it may be time to consider that your truth is not the only truth. Inviting the truth of others does not mean losing your own, but it can mean losing the necessity for defending it, thus freeing your perspective away from Dogma and into something more Practical. DATES OF INTEREST July is “littered” with multiple Nexus points that have most consciousness in a strange state of flux and limbo on the surface, as major shifts and rearrangements are being managed on Essence levels. Dream states may be heightened, along with demands for sleep, or at least a constant state of fatigue and disorientation. JULY 21st through 24th - a divergence (branching) Nexus with potentially explosive or implosive revelations and resolutions as a result of the process of implementing Pragmatism. Breakthroughs may occur here, or collapses into divisions that accommodate oppositions, doubts, and dogma. AUGUST 1st through 4th - another divergence (branching Nexus, focusing on accommodating the various directions of world economy.
NWM - Aug 15, 2015 - Blind Spots of Attitude Channel: Troy Tolley MEntity: Hello to you each of you. We are here, now. We will begin. ClaireC: Hi! Diane_HB: Hi Michael! MEntity: Today we will speak to the "blind spots" of your Attitude. Though we have clear delineation of each Overleaf in terms of polarities, there can come a time in the evolution of an Essence when all of the "tricks" of fear, Chief Features, and Negative Poles are exhausted as methods defense, division, and isolation. This can take many lifetimes to exhaust because every lifetime brings with it a new Personality, so all of these methods are still "new" every single time. Fearful choices and reactions can be used over and over and then overcome, only to be found anew in the next life. However, the older the soul, the thinner that "veil" is between the Personality and Essence, and you begin to live AS Essence. And Essence knows all of the tricks of fear. We speak in convenient terms here that may seem to personify fear as something independent from you, but that is not the case. We know you know this. As the Personality evolves in a lifetime, and particularly when studying and applying a teaching such as this, it can become quite obvious and clear when one is in the Negative Pole by definition, and choices can be made to remedy this. These means of navigation, choice, and self-observation are quite beneficial to reducing unwarranted fear. And while this can reduce the hold of Chief Features by up to 90% and beyond, it will not address the blind spots that each of you develop. These blind spots are your downfall. They are your bad days. They are your "people suck" scenarios. They are your "I suck" scenarios. They are your haunting undercurrents of pointlessness, or your ominous dread that you keep in check. In short, they are your means of evading responsibility for your fear. The fear we speak of will be relative to your Chief Feature, but we likely not speak to those today. We speak of the means by which that fear gets a hold and becomes acceptable to you in ways that perpetuate the hold of Chief Feature so that it is comforting, addictive, and "sensible." Before we continue: do each of you know your Attitude? Name your Attitude now, if you do. PeterK: Skeptic. Diane_HB: Pragmatist ViP: Spiritualist Maureen: Realist ClaireC: Spiritualist Bobby: Pragmatist Diane_HB: Troy/Geraldine are Idealists MEntity: Keep in mind that you may not like what we have to say today. Diane_HB: LOL ViP: hmm MEntity: We will prioritize details based on the Attitudes here, then expand into those that are not listed, if time permits. PRAGMATIST The Pragmatist, basically, interprets the world in terms of WHAT WORKS. The Pragmatist at his or her best has a keen sense of efficiency and elegance. We have defined "elegance" as that economy of energy that gives the greatest amount of return for the least amount of expenditure. When the Pragmatist is in the Negative Pole, it can be quite obvious as Dogma. The Pragmatist thinks that it is his or her way "or the highway," or they simply continue to repeat and impose methods that work for themselves even as they may not work for others. There are many ways that Dogma can show up, but it is often fairly obvious in that it is immovable and unwavering in perception. However, the Blind Spot can be far more "sensible" and more difficult to call out within the self as a Pragmatist, or for others to call out in the Pragmatist. Because the Pragmatist sees the world in terms of WHAT WORKS, their Blind Spot can be related to any area where they do not wish to do that work. If it is someone else's problem, it is THEIR problem. If it is not an issue that the Pragmatist struggles with, then it is a silly issue. If it is a struggle that the Pragmatist has overcome, then why cannot others do the same? The Pragmatist sensibly falls into Dogma by dismissing, distancing, and even denigrating the oh-so-inefficient struggles of others. The Pragmatist Blind Spot may then be described as INSENSITIVITY. It is the tiresome extra effort necessary to inefficiently empathize. Diane_HB: ? MEntity: Solutions to struggles seem quite obvious to the Pragmatist who is not directly involved with that struggle or that type of struggle: simply stop struggling. Do something else. Walk away. Do not respond. Let it go. When the Pragmatist finds this is his or her response to the struggles of another, it may be the Blind Spot in effect that allows him or her to justify Dogma. This is also true of his or her own struggles. There are times when this same policy is imposed upon the self. Why am I upset? That is so inefficient. I can just walk away and leave it alone. Or "suck it up." The emphasis shifts only to WHAT WORKS and away from the WHY of what is being experienced. Life is inefficient. Experience is not organized. It is messy. For the Pragmatist, the Blind Spot convinces him or her that if it is a struggle, if it is messy, if it is not efficient, it is not worth it. It does not work. As Pragmatists, if you find this oversimplification in effect, you are probably being blind to the messy depths of an experience that is either yours to experience, or yours to help another through. You are being Insensitive. Do the Pragmatists relate? Bobby: Oh yes! Diane_HB: Yes MEntity: SPIRITUALISTS The Spiritualist, basically, sees life as if it has never been seen before. There is an awe as an undercurrent to the basic philosophy of the life when at its best. The Spiritualist looks for signs, interconnectedness, resonance, and meaning in "everything." This is why they must VERIFY, the Positive Pole. So much of "everything" can be interpreted as messages, interconnectedness, signs, etc., that life can become a din of symbolism that drowns out all of the messages. When the Spiritualist is overwhelmed by the messages and meaning of life, they can retreat into an isolating system of BELIEFS that removes the noise of life, and simply decides what is true, decides what people mean, decides what will happen, decides what happened, and that is that. If the Spiritualist believes it, then it happened. That is that. Now the world is interpreted through that system of Belief, and the inconvenience of Verifying lets the Spiritualist simply decide what is true. This is the obvious polarization within the Spiritualist, and most older souls begin to realize this and make the effort to Verify. They do not let themselves simply decide what is true; they ask questions. They question themselves. They are OK with being wrong. They allow room for nuance and context so that nothing is only True or Not True. However, the Blind Spot then comes into play as these polarities come to be navigated more consciously. For the Spiritualist, this Blind Spot is EXCUSES. The Spiritualist can tend to justify his or her behaviors, attitude, and choices by deferring to "the universe" as the force behind the reasoning for those choices, attitudes, and behaviors. By "the universe" we mean circumstances, behaviors of others, obligations, responsibilities, expectations of meaning and message. Though all Attitudes may be use this method, it is often the Spiritualists who "leave it up to the Universe," or "we'll see what happens," etc. The Spiritualist takes a passive seat to the efforts necessary for choice. This allows two things: Beliefs to stay intact, and responsibility to be evaded. In other words, the Spiritualist may find that he or she always has an excuse. If the Spiritualist is upset, there is a "reason." It is not merely that he or she interpreted events through Belief. If the Spiritualist does not succeed at an expectation or intention, then it is "the universe" who decided this, not that the Spiritualist merely need alter or adapt efforts. And so BELIEF remains unquestioned. Do the Spiritualists relate? ViP: yes ClaireC: Oh yes. MEntity: IDEALISTS The Idealist, basically, sees life in terms of how it SHOULD BE, or how it can be improved. Though all fragments will navigate with some level of expectation, the Idealist navigates almost entirely based in expectations. Expectations are healthy. They are a means of navigation and help one to shape choices and actions and feelings in response to the possibilities of life. Both Spiritualists and Idealists are quite familiar with rocky terrain of expectation, but the Idealist takes this to a new level. The Spiritualist can tend to have expectations of the world around him or her as a means of navigating potential, but the Idealist can tend to generate expectations from others of himself or herself that the Spiritualist can avoid. The Idealist in the Negative Pole can be obvious in his or her naive approach to fulfilling an ideal. They set high expectations without considering the necessary components that need to be in place for coming together to fulfill the ideal. While the Spiritualist will make Excuses for his or her disappointments and failing of potential, the Idealist will COMPARTMENTALIZE. The Blind Spot, however, we will describe as REPERCUSSIONS. The Idealist, when in Naivety, will distance himself or herself from the Repercussions of failed expectations by using compartmentalizing. The Positive Pole of the Idealist is a Coalescing of parts that must come together to fulfill the ideal, so when the Idealist is in the Negative Pole, the parts become divided and compartmentalized so that the whole picture can no longer be seen, experienced, felt. The Repercussions are avoided, ignored, or distanced from the self. This is an insidious form of Naivety Troy can attest to his relating to all of this. As may Geraldine. REALIST The Realist, basically, sees life FOR WHAT IT IS. Sometimes "it sucks" and sometimes it does not. When the Realist is in the Positive Pole, it is not personal. They are OBJECTIVE. Life happens. Choices have consequences. Actions have impact. Feelings are important, but not the truth. The Realist knows all of this and interprets life and experiences accordingly. It can be quite obvious when the Realist falls into Subjectivity because then things become personal. The Objectivity is lost and Subjectivity is in effect. The distance and clarity is lost in favor of how personal something has become. When things get personal for the Realist, it is unnerving, disorienting, and even paralyzing, though sometimes a lashing out can occur to help force a false distance to return. By "personal" we mean that the individual can no longer see himself or herself as PART of a dynamic, but begin to see themselves as sucked into middle or as the focus of the dynamic The Realist in the Negative Pole can be quite obvious as their defenses tend to rise quite high. But as the soul grows older, the Realist can begin to recognize these defenses and transform a "personal" experience so that it moves from being Subjective to being Objective, and the Realist is returned to be a part of the dynamic, instead of the focus or center of it. But the Blind Spot of the Realist is INCONVENIENCE. The older soul Realist can navigate the precarious balance between Objectivity and Subjectivity, but heaven forbid you interfere with their convenience. This can "set them off" into Subjectivity faster than even your pressing and imposing problems that spill unwelcomed into their space. The more inconvenient you are, the more you can send the Realist into the Negative Pole. The more inconvenienced the Realist, the more he or she can feel he or she has been imposed upon in ways that lock them into Subjectivity. We do not say this mockingly. It is not a superficial term we use here. Convenience is a prized state that the Realist works hard to secure in his or her life. They know life can be hard, so they hone the life into ways, paths, and patterns that uphold the quality and benefit of convenience. This is a natural byproduct of having such an Attitude, and it is a healthy response to the acknowledgement of the range of experience that life can bring. Hardship and struggle WILL happen, so why not secure as many conveniences as possible to help balance that out. This helps the Realist, then, remain Objective. But it can become their Blind Spot, as well. If inconvenienced, Subjectivity can take hold, and then the defenses come up. Does the attending Realist relate? Maureen: Yes ClaireC: And the friend of the Realist too. ? ViP: ? Maureen: I can see all the Blindspots of the other Attitudes, as well. ? MEntity: If we are doing our job correctly, all of these will be clearly represented among you and around you. Diane_HB: I can see them ClaireC: Very clearly. MEntity: SKEPTIC The Skeptic, basically, sees life as if it to be inherently questioned and disproven. Put another way, the Skeptic sees life as something to Investigate. When the Skeptic is in the Positive Pole, the Skeptic is comfortable questioning assumptions, patient in his or her search and research for answers, and does not experience this constant questioning as anything more than a means to learn, understand, and build insights. The effort to disprove is not an effort to tear down, but to ensure that there is strength in the proof. The questioning is a means to flesh out meaning and depth, not to strip of value and integrity. The reason the emphasis is on disproof over proof is because there are far more claims in life than there are lack of claims. When the Skeptic falls into SUSPICION, he or she does not stop questioning or disproving, but does so from the premise that there are inherent and intentional deceit and hidden truths involved. The Blind Spot of the Skeptic, then, is DISSATISFACTION. This is a sense that nothing can truly satisfy the questions, the doubt, the investigation, and leaves the individual locked in Suspicion. The Skeptic can find that this Dissatisfaction is sensible and then continue in Suspicion, never truly learning or expanding in insight, but cycling through layers and layers of presumed deceit and lies and misinformation. This is another of the Attitudes that often has to learn that it is okay to be wrong, or that lack of solid validation and empirical evidence does not imply deceit. Does the attending Skeptic relate? PeterK: Yes, very much so. I have several files on my computer titled, "Investigation of ..." ClaireC: lol MEntity: We know we have not covered all Attitudes, but these are for those in attendance. We will now take your questions. We have about 10 minutes remaining. QUEUE IS OPEN ViP: Hi Michael, if a person slides from one Attitude to another, does that make them open to that Attitude's blind spot, as well as their own "native" blind spot? MEntity: The native Overleaf is key, but the additional Blind Spots can become double-blind spots. If you notice a Blind Spot that is not of your resting Attitude, you can use this insight to then see how that is serving that default Attitude. Bobby: Claire was forfeiting her question, so without elaborating due to time restraints, would you at least name the blind spot of the other two Attitudes: Stoic and Cynic? MEntity: STOIC - DISCONNECT; CYNIC - OBSESSION. PeterK: I often have trouble seeing possibilities. Is this related to my Skeptic blind spot? MEntity: Inherent in the Ordinal Attitudes is a more focused range of perception and interpretation. Inherent in the Cardinal or Exalted Attitudes comes the broader interpretations that require a greater sense of possibilities. Your focus is not a blind spot. You would not be able to truly Investigate if a wide range of possibilities were acceptable to you. It is a strength of Skeptic to narrow possibilities before they propagate into meaninglessness. This does not mean you will always find your answers, but it does mean you will have a greater probability of this than other Attitudes that may allow room for a wide range that is never validated. However, if Dissatisfaction has narrowed your sense of possibilities to such an extent that you are no longer searching for answers, but only searching for evidence to support your suspicions, then, yes, it can be related to that blind spot. We will conclude here for today. Good day to each of you. Goodbye, for now. Blindspot for STOIC was obtained by JanetE on 8/19/2015: MEntity: The Stoic, basically, sees the world as if it has all been seen before. Most things are not surprising. Most people are not surprising. Enthusiasm is not denied, but it is a prized resource that is used quite carefully. When the Stoic embraces the mundanity of life, there is a kind of TRANQUILITY that is embraced. Things and people are not required to be surprising. They are not required to entertain or be more than they are. There is a kind of peace in the familiar, rather than a boredom or resentment. This familiarity is not something that is clung to, but rather accepted as a force in life that is as meaningful as anything new and exciting. However, while the Stoic embraces the mundane, it is done so with the understanding that surprises will happen. They are as built into a life as mundanity. If the Stoic goes too long without a surprise, then the Attitude can fall into Resignation. If the Stoic is overwhelmed with too many surprises, then the Attitude can fall into Resignation. The Stoic, then, has her Blind Spot as DISCONNECT because she is either tired of the same old things being repeated and presented as if new and surprising when she presumes she already knows all there is to know or experience regarding that thing, or the Disconnect comes because too many new and exciting surprises are tossed into the mix that pushes the Stoic into Resignation. It becomes sensible to the Stoic to simply Disconnect, turn off, tune out, because it is all going to be the same things again and again anyway. It becomes sensible to the Stoic to simply Disconnect, turn off, tune out, because too much is too much and rather than navigate it, it simply needs to stop being the focus. When the Stoic finds she is tuning out, turning off, Disconnecting, it is likely because she has found it difficult to process too much of the same thing, or too much of a new thing. The return to Tranquility can come when the "too much" is removed from the equation, and is replaced with moderation, rather than shut down. In addition to this, the Stoic in Disconnect and Resignation can do well to remember Experiential Differentiation. This is the truth that, regardless of how many times one experiences something, there is always potential for that experience to bring something new, meaningful, and valuable. There is more we can say on this subject, of course, but this is a quick synopsis. Blindspot for CYNIC was obtained by Kurtis on 8/23/2015: MEntity: The Cynic, basically, sees the world in terms of opposing the obvious or appearances or common assumptions. The Cynic knows there is almost always more than meets the eye. The Cynic, then, is always looking beyond the surface, always willing to look in the opposite directions, always interested in the contents, not the packaging. This is CONTRADICTION. When in the Positive Pole, the Cynic simply Contradicts the obvious. This is similar to questioning, doubting, and allowing room for being wrong. However, when the Cynic falls into the Negative Pole of Denigration, it is because he cannot accept that what is known is all there is. The simple truth or the lack of complexity can trigger Denigration, or the breaking down of something or someone beyond its capacity to break down. It is Contradiction for the sake of contradiction rather than as a means to know more. The Cynic learns that sometimes, and more often than not, there is nothing more, no hidden or secret meaning, no blind dichotomy. Something or someone is simply what can be seen, experienced, and known. So the Cynic questions and then that is that. However, the Cynic can develop a Blind Spot that prompts them to continue questioning, continue breaking something or someone down, and this turns into an Obsession. Some of the most outlandish conspiracies are perpetuated by Cynics in Obsession. Denigration is seen as a necessary evil that is noble and important to impose, even as it means making up and stretching facts beyond recognition. The Spiritualist and Cynic are similar in their fall into "beliefs" in this regard.
Ask Michael – Open Floor June 7, 2015 Channel: Troy Tolley 12:24:05 PM PeterK: Does positive thinking manifest a positive reality? If so, what is the process or mechanism by which this occurs? MEntity: There is validity to the power of "positive" thinking, but only insofar as that positivity is inclusive, and not exclusive. If "positive" thinking is exclusionary, then it is often merely a delusional tactic to avoid unpleasant elements of the life. MEntity: To be truly "positive," one must embrace the "negative." MEntity: If one is struggling with a terminal illness, it can be most powerful to enlist a positive attitude, but not as a means to escape the reality of the struggle, but to add strength to the very real struggle that may be involved. MEntity: To understand the way that true positive thinking would work is to understand the difference between closing one's eyes to hide from the darkness, and letting one's eyes adjust so that one can see better in the darkness. MEntity: True Positivity is aimed at SEEING, FEELING, and THINKING more, not less. MEntity: When one aims for True Positivity, then one can navigate more to one's benefit. MEntity: Another way to understand True Positivity vs false positivity/escape is to understand that every great meal will be met with the necessity for defecation. One does not avoid eating just to avoid defecation, and if one does so, one is killing the self. MEntity: There are many examples we can give, but we think these help to clarify the benefit of positive thinking vs "positive thinking." 12:36:18 PM ViP: Can you give a brief description of how breathing affects the processes of the brain, mind, and any other part of the body that affects thinking? ViP: Many meditative practices, as well as hatha yoga, emphasize breath control to a great degree and I wanted to understand how this functions better, if you could give a brief description of it. MEntity: Breathing is an automated function that one does not have to monitor as a means to survive. This is true of many functions of the body. MEntity: However, of all the biological functions that one runs automatically, it is one of only a few that can most immediately be measured, monitored, and brought to your awareness. MEntity: It does not require machinery to provide feedback, or a long-term monitoring process to see effects from more mindful control. MEntity: One does not have to depend upon one's status, income, or state of health for access to this function. MEntity: Yes, health can interfere with this function, but unless one is not breathing at all, or completely unconscious, it is still very likely in one's control to some degree. MEntity: This is why this biological function was found to be most effective in helping to bring consciousness to a subconscious process. MEntity: When one takes a simple function that is so vital to one's life and brings to it an awareness and presence, it can bring that same awareness and presence to other areas of the life that have come to be automated and subconscious, or even unconscious. MEntity: Of course, there is also the benefit of oxygen that comes with breathing, and the more one brings this food to the body, the better it can function. The better the body functions, the better the platform for the consciousness. MEntity: Diet and Breathing are two immediate powers one has in making deeply profound changes to the platform that is available for consciousness in a lifetime. The more one brings conscious awareness to either of these, or both of these, as a practice (not as a replacement for automation), the greater the benefit to the strength of platform for consciousness. MEntity: When we say "as a practice" we mean that one does not want to worry about breathing only when you think to breathe. You still want it to be a function that happens with or without your conscious attention. You do not want to starve because you forget to eat, either. But allowing these functions to have some amount of conscious awareness as a part of your day, such as a few deep breaths at the beginning, middle, and end of your day, or making more conscious choices in food intake, allows you to bring greater consciousness to many areas of the life. 12:52:21 PM Janet: When I asked you about a dream I had involving sycamore trees, you told me that some symbols are ancient to the Instinctive Center, and they come up as a language in dreams. I've noticed that a number of students (including myself) have reported dreams involving turtles. Are turtles one of those ancient symbols and, in general, what do they mean? MEntity: The "Turtle" refers to the original move to Earth. This was one of the first creatures to have persistent contact with those who began stabilizing and wandering about. Variations of the Turtle have been in existence previous to our arrival and continue into modern day with very little variation. Over time, this came to represent Earth, our new home. MEntity: Not only were these creatures friendly, but came to symbolize successful stabilization as both a species and individual lives. MEntity: There was a period of time very early on when individuals would go through a simple kind of initiation or ritual that included bonding with the Turtle as a way to say, in so many words, "We think we/you will make it." MEntity: In other words, if you lived long enough, your stability was associated with that of the Turtle as a kind of celebration. MEntity: Over time, many variations of meaning have come to be attributed to the Turtle, but the persistence of the Turtle as representing the consciousness of Earth or the universe that hosts Earth has continued. Janet: That image/idea of the earth actually being on the back of a turtle comes to mind. MEntity: On an individual level, the Turtle can symbolize endurance, innocent persistence without aggression or defense, and passive patience. MEntity: Yes, that is related. 01:07:38 PM BrianW: Hi Michael. Could you comment on differences and similarities of intimacy in monogamous relationships vs polyamorous relationship? MEntity: Most of those differences would be up to the individuals involved. Intimacy for one person can be sustained with only one person while another can sustain intimacy with up to 3. No fragment can tend to manage intimacy with more than 3 others at any given time. MEntity: For most, there is a limit to the number with whom one can sustain intimacy, and it rarely reaches 3 for most. MEntity: What tends to happen is that there is that inner circle of intimacy with whom one can sustain depth of intimacy, and if another were added beyond that, then someone would be moved out to another ring. BrianW: How might one choose which is best for them, or how to make it work? MEntity: Experimentation can help you decide if this involves mutual, sexual intimacy. If all involved can know all involved, then it can work. If you must juggle and sustain barriers among those within that inner circle of intimacy, then it is not working and is likely not an inner circle of intimacy. MEntity: Most who lean toward polyamory use the 2nd Circle/Ring for their management of intimacy, rotating one to three individuals in and out from that inner circle to an outer circle. MEntity: The 2nd Circle can manage up to 7 intimate relationships, so a part of that pool may be sexual in nature. BrianW: And the 1st Circle only up to 3 intimate relationships? MEntity: Yes, at most. The Personality simply cannot sustain more than that, and this includes non-sexual intimacy, as well. 01:22:34 PM DianeHB: Hi Michael, could you talk about how the Pragmatist appears/acts in social situations? MEntity: The Pragmatist in the Positive Pole can show up as attentive, quiet, and observing of how others are maneuvering, behaving, functioning, and producing, offering insight, feedback, and direction only as necessary or as beneficial to the dynamic. MEntity: The Pragmatist in the Negative Pole is your micro-manager, your "nit-picking" and badgering presence, either in obvious ways or in passive-aggressive ways that are not productive, but tend to actually undermine efficiency. By "efficiency" here we mean that an intended effect is lost in favor of the feeding dogma. MEntity: Because Pragmatists can be using any other Attitude, this benefit or undermining can come in the guise of any other Attitude. Many Negative Pole Pragmatists are known to say something along the lines of "I'm just being truthful." MEntity: This is not limited to Pragmatists, because all other Attitudes can also access the Pragmatist. An Idealist can express the same if he's using Dogma, for example. However, most other Attitudes do tend to stay on their own Axis and not involve Pragmatism. MEntity: As usual, the above is highly simplistic and not indicative of the complexities of a human being, but it can be helpful in understanding the dynamic of a trait. 01:36:36 PM Kurt: Hi Michael, I'd like to continue with my series of questions. This time on how the Skeptic appears/acts in social situations. MEntity: The Positive Pole Skeptic is curious, even if presented with surprising, challenging, or discrepant information, behaviors, or expressions. The Skeptic understands Expression and relies on it for gathering information with which she can then sort. MEntity: The Positive Pole Skeptic would rather know than not to know, so it is important to that Skeptic to keep from imposing her own restrictions on others. MEntity: The Negative Pole Skeptic has already decided you are wrong. MEntity: She may probe you for more interaction, not as a means for sorting, but as a means for holding it up to mock or discredit. MEntity: This Skeptic may not even ask you or interact with you because she has already decided you are wrong, uninformed, or some form of threat to her being right. MEntity: The above may be obviously or quietly brought to a social situation. 01:48:25 PM Bobby: Being that this is a Higher Moving Centered year, there has been a good deal of larger seismic activity around the planet so far this year. As things look now and into the rest of this year, are probabilities building for the increased likelihood of any sort of major event of some type? MEntity: Yes Bobby: LOL Bobby: anything else you'd share? GeraldineB: LOL -- Michael, you so crack me up :) Kurt: oh no... MEntity: Seismic activity is being registered more because better methods are being used now, and the more seismic activity, the "better" in that it means relief is coming to stressed lines. This does not always prevent larger events, but it often does. Greater threats arise in areas were seismic activity is low or non-existent, even as it is clear there are fault lines. MEntity: Though there are no years with exclusive claim to major events, we have seen that Higher Moving Centered years do have a strong track record for globally-significant events that can range from earthquakes, extremes of weather, and Solar activity. MEntity: Though several events of extreme have already happened in this year, we do not think the "big one" has come about, but we do think it will. We say this, not as a prediction or ominous note, but as a matter of momentum of patterns we can observe. GeraldineB: Where? Bobby: lol GeraldineB: Mt Rainier? during late June? Oh no!!! Kurt: cringes all throughout MEntity: We cannot predict. We can only say that that there are several probable locations and events moving into stressed states. MEntity: We will conclude here for today. Good evening to each of you. Goodbye, for now. Janet: Talk about a cliffhanger Kurt: later... Kurt: I swear now i'm on edge Kurt: Have to calm my phobia... GeraldineB: DAMMIT!!! Bobby: heehee GeraldineB: LOL GeraldineB: Thank you, Michael and Troy :) Bobby: well, look where there hasn't been activity if they are locked :-) Kurt: *internal screaming* 02:02:42 PM *********** June 8, 2015 Followup Q to the Earthquake Q from this Ask Michael Session: GeraldineB: 2) Yesterday, earthquakes were discussed in the Ask Michael session. Could we have a probability of possible major earthquakes during 2015, approximately 8 pt or higher, either along the West coast of the U.S. from Alaska to Baja California, either of the two Super volcano sites in the U.S. – Mammoth Lake or Yellowstone, and along the New Madrid faultline. MEntity: In response to your next question: MEntity: To speak of probabilities for Earthquakes is one of the most difficult to assess. We know you know the lack of solid ground we can give for any prediction, and for many probabilities. With that being understood, we can say that we see the higher probabilities for Earthquakes near the 8.0 range as being around Missouri and Tennessee, or further East, because these areas are long-overdue for release. Numbers between 6.0 and 8.0 seem to be most probable further West. MEntity: The entire Pacific Rim up and down and beyond in both directions along the Western United States is high in probability for those numbers. MEntity: We do not have any way to be more accurate. MEntity: In parallels "close" to "this" parallel, Portland to Vancouver have been hit hard, as well as generated tsunamis to the coasts of Alaska.
