  1. ENERGY REPORT JULY 2010 July marks the shift of emphasis from the MODE of the year to the ATTITUDE for the year. We remind you that the energy represented by the GOAL and MODE does not dissipate, but that it is built upon. In this case, the Attitude of Spiritualist is building upon the Goal of Dominance, and the Mode of Power, and of course, the Role of Sage for this year. July through September tends to be a "season" that explores the collective philosophies and general filter of perception that most are using in terms of looking at, and interpreting, the world and world events. Though everyone will have their own filter of interpretation, personal philosophies, Attitudes, etc, there is still a general perception that is generated from the masses, often reflected in world events, news, politics, and other shared phenomena. The Attitude is the "hub" of every Personality. The entire Personality is affected by the Attitude. The Attitude is central to the Personality in the same way that a hub is central to a wheel; the Personality is only ever as strong and capable of movement as the strength of that hub. The Attitude is like the hub in that if it is weak, bent, or heavy, it can throw off the movement of the wheel in ways that range from complete lack of navigation, to a crippling roll. It could be said, then, that these months of July through September are kind of opportunity for tuning up the personal Attitude by examining the collective Attitude. For 2010, we see the collective Attitude best described as SPIRITUALIST. Each of the Attitudes describes one of 7 basic philosophies that have come to be described and studied through history. Spiritualism could be described as the philosophy of the immaterial, intangible, and non-physical as potential forces to consider. This philosophy can range from the more obvious spirituality that is often contained in religion, and personal values that include the concept of a soul with realms beyond the physical, to the intangibilities, hypotheses, and theories of science, along with thought, emotion, and anticipated long-term consequences. The Spiritualist philosophy does not always manifest as stereotypical religious, pagan, new age, or other metaphysical spirituality, but can manifest as a consideration of possibilities, long-term consequences, and the factor of thought and emotion as it plays in the world of action and result. For the most part, we see the latter as how Spiritualist is manifesting in 2010 among people. Regardless of your personal philosophies, or your Personality's Attitude Overleaf, the world is "looking through" the lens of the Spiritualist at this point, with an emphasis on the more mundane aspects of this philosophy. The British Petroleum oil geyser has helped to bring this Spiritualistic Attitude into focus for many people across your species. Many "lessons" are being learned on many levels among people because of this event. This is not to say that the British Petroleum accident was part of any plan to "teach a lesson," because that is simply not the case, and in fact, is never the case with disasters or catastrophes on any level. Personalities and Souls often seek to extract lessons from painful or tragic experiences that are part of the nature of the Physical Plane, but these tragedies are not imposed upon the animals, plants, and people simply for the sake of "learning." They are things that "just happened," and one can learn from, or ignore, these events, and one can learn with or without tragedy and harm. An aside: True "accidents" are rare, and have quite traceable patterns of cause and effect, but this ability to trace the patterns does not mean that such accidental events are generated from some conscious or unconscious intent to learn from them. Often what are deemed "accidents" are merely results that are unwanted, unexpected, and unintended, but still a result of patterns that can be traced back through choices and actions. Keep in mind that we do not consider anything an accident that was anticipated by Essence or Personality, which gives one a wide sphere of vision. A True Accident is one that is not anticipated by Essence or Personality. Learning occurs after-the-fact of any event, whether that event was controlled and anticipated, or chaotic and a complete surprise. The Spiritualist Attitude has the greatest capacity for True Intelligence as it has the natural inclination for grasping the long-term consequences of thought, feeling, and action. It may be thought that those who are professional scientists and researchers are those who would not have Spiritualist as an Attitude, but something more along the lines of Skeptic or Realist, but that is not the case. Truly scientific thought comes from the imagination, visions, and the by-passing of logic that is necessary for breakthroughs. All Attitudes have the capacity for True Intelligence, but Spiritualist defaults to embracing the emotional, intuitive, perceptive forms of navigation, which are important elements of True Intelligence that other Attitudes can tend to reject, resist, or limit to specific contexts. The Spiritualist does not restrict intelligence to logic, and embraces the perceptive and intuitive, and this can be its strength or its weakness. The Positive Pole of Spiritualist is Verification, which allows for possibility, anticipation, and potential, but elaborates upon those qualities and validates them through the combined use of logic, intuition, and feeling. Validation for the Spiritualist is done through a loop of awareness that seeks to match possibility, pattern, and probability against actuality. The Negative Pole is Belief, which throws out all logic, intuition, and feeling and simply decides what is valid, or accepts what has been deemed as valid by others. What we have seen since the blunder that released the oil geyser is a rather somber Spiritualistic look at the far-reaching consequences of this event, and even a look back at the choices that have been made as a species that may have led to this event. For those in the Positive Pole of Verification, this may have provoked a soft look at how one is living, how one's choices add to the collective choices that can build and prompt, even if indirectly, larger events in the personal live, and world events on larger scales, such as the oil geyser. Consequences can become clear to those in Verification, not because there is an obvious, linear track between cause and effect, but that the cause and the effect are obvious, and that is enough. The questions and concerns that have crossed the minds of those interpreting this BP event through the Positive Pole are asking how, if at all, they can break their personal part in that chain of events. The Positive Pole brings a strong, collective sense about this event, with very little sense of blame for its manifestation, but more of a sense of awakening to the critical mass that has led to this kind of event. There may be strong feelings and thoughts about how the situation is being managed in the current state, but that is different from the examination of the patterns that have created the potential for this scenario in the first place. In other words, even the oldest, wisest, and enlightened of souls on the planet participate in daily conveniences that use resources that are drawn from the planet in less-than-savory ways. This may seem daunting to the older soul as a concern, but with some examination, and some embrace of the larger, long-term consequences of smaller, short-term choices and actions, considerations can come into focus that are meaningful. This applies to the personal life and its own "disasters" that can seem overwhelming. As you may see in the review from our last few reports through this channel, this Spiritualism is building upon the examination of Power Mode from the last "season." Those in the Negative Pole of Belief may manifest as having fallen prey to the belief in easy blame, anger, rejecting his or her part in the collective patterns that lead to consequences such as these. This inclination toward Belief is often couched in tones of indignation, dismay, disheartenment, self-righteousness, and of course, blame. This is not to say that those involved with the BP incident are not to be held accountable, if those who can do so will choose to do so, but to presume that one is not a part of the pattern that has led to this event is to cut out a vital part of the equation that could lead to alternatives and solutions. If you are reading this, you are more than likely a part of the pattern that led to the possibility and eventual manifestation of this event. Some fragments may stay away from blame, not because they grasp that it is useless, but because the Negative Pole also leans toward more immediate, self-gratifying Beliefs that avoid feeling, thinking, and acting. Such concepts as "positive energy," "healing light," and "sending good thoughts," etc., while having some validity, do not have validity for most, and certainly do not generate valid solutions for the problem that has prompted these kinds of responses. These concepts are often used as a means to opt out of utilizing perception, using any real thought, and act as an avoidance, suppression, or dismissal of feeling. There is a lack of any overview of consequences, emphasizing making oneself feel better as the priority in the guise of helpful intentions that require little beyond a few quick phrases. All "positive thought," "good intention," or "healing," when valid, must not only be a sustained state that is emphasized, but it must include Physical Plane follow-up and participation in some form. We can say that very little, if anything, happens when a simple "positive" glance of thought, feeling, or gesture in the general direction of an illness, catastrophe, or accident is offered up. This kind of problem-solving and life management is a symptom of Belief, the Negative Pole of Spiritualist. All that we have described here in the context of the BP Oil geyser can be applied on personal scales, as well. As July unfolds, so will the questions and examinations of the larger patterns of the life, and the look at the thoughts, feelings, and actions that contribute to those larger patterns. As that examination and questioning becomes more obvious, we would think that our students might begin to feel uneasy, slightly anxious, and begin a revisiting of some of the original ideas that had been intended for this year to manifest. To the extent that one begins to feel "back on track" before September ends, is the extent to which one would be free of the October through December "season" that examines the collective Chief Negative Features (fears). In light of what we have shared here, we can say that, in short, it can be helpful to understand: 1) A SINGLE CHOICE/DECISION DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MY WORLD, EVEN IF THAT DIFFERENCE IS NOT IMMEDIATELY DISCERNIBLE OR TANGIBLE, AND IT CAN MAKE ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE. 2) UNWANTED, UNEXPECTED, ACCIDENTAL, and PAINFUL PERSONAL AND WORLD EVENTS CAN BE MANAGED, REDIRECTED, TRANSFORMED, or SOLVED THROUGH THE REQUIRED MIX OF THINKING, FEELING, and DOING. Those phrases might be helpful for bridging and building upon the explorations and experiences gathered over the first part of your year. KEY DATES over JULY: July 27-30 is a Nexus that is a Convergence of parallels focused on Breakthroughs, Solutions, and implementing long-term plans related to those. KEY PHRASE over JULY: "EVERYTHING I DO, FEEL, or THINK MAKES A DIFFERENCE." We realize we have extended upon the theme from our last report, but this is intentional and relevant as the transition into the Attitude takes root.
  2. KurtisM

[Excerpt from Energy Report: July & August 2011] The Attitude is our way of describing one’s basic philosophy, or one’s basic filter for interpreting the world, and how one tends to bring that philosophy into the world. Pragmatism is basically the philosophy of theorizing, experimenting with those theories, and then choosing the most practical. Pragmatism is the building up of theories from the processing of one’s own experiences, and then applying those theories to substantiate them, which gives rise to new experiences, which then give rise to new theories, and so on. However, Pragmatism is not just about the collection of one’s own experiences, but the consideration and inclusion of other people’s experiences and theories along the way. It is through the experimentation and application of all theories that Pragmatism is healthy as an Attitude, or is in the Positive Pole of Practical/Efficient. Pragmatism is not about convenience or lazy interpretations, when in the Positive Pole, but a consideration of a multitude of perceptions that can work, could work, or has worked, and then choosing from those the most Practical, through experimentation. When Pragmatism falls into the Negative Pole, there is no Practice (practical), no Efficiency, and certainly very little consideration of alternative theories to one’s own. There is only Prejudice, Presumption, or Dogmatism. These words not only describe the lack of validation of the theories, but describes the blocking of challenges to one’s theories, including the very nature of varying contexts. When Pragmatism falls into Dogma, one’s perspective is locked in a way that leaves little room for the consideration of even one’s own new experiences, or alternative perspectives, that could update or clarify the original theories so that they are capable of being validated, useful, Practical. A simplistic example might be one who “knows” that he can get on the other side of a wall, because he knows that others have done so, so he rams himself into the wall. This is an experience that tells this person that ramming into the wall is probably not the most efficient or practical means for applying his theory that one can get to the other side. The Pragmatist in the Positive Pole would then try to climb it, or crawl through a window, or use the door, or just go around it, or all of the above, comparing each experience to determine the most practical solution, but also including feedback and experiences from those around him so that he can experiment with those, too. The Pragmatist in the Positive Pole knows that the shortest distance between two points is not always a straight line, so to speak. The Pragmatist in the Negative Pole may simply continue to ram himself against the wall, eventually busting through, and then insists that this is the only way, or the best way, or the way that works, because it worked for him. Eventually. ... Also, keep in mind that all Assimilative Overleaves “slide” to the other Overleaves as a means for manifestation. All Assimilative Overleaves are rather transparent, if you will, and though defined in their own right, tend to require other means through which to apply that definition. So the Pragmatist, then, would “slide” to the Attitude that is most Practical for the occasion, or the most useful for digging in to Dogmatism. Though an Assimilative Overleaf can use any other Overleaf in that category, a person will tend to choose one or two as habitual places to slide.
  3. ENERGY REPORT JULY 2012 As a cycle of pre-measured time unfolds, such as a year, it can be anticipated in understanding similar to describing and anticipating any Personality. Any system, such as another Personality system, Astrology, and even frequencies and meanings of color, could be used to describe these cycles of time, as they could also be used to describe geographical locations, communities, etc. because if there is a basic understanding of any system, it can be superimposed in a way that is quite useful and empowering. The greater the understanding of the system, the greater the understanding of that which is being superimposed upon. However, a vital, key awareness in any process of interpretation or superimposition is that “the map is never the terrain.” In other words, we can describe the year in Overleaves, Astrological terms, Color, etc, but that year will never exist through only those words; you still must live through the year as a way to know that year. This is true of any map. The ATTITUDE in our system of Personality is the individual’s “map” of the terrain through which they will journey. It is your system of superimposition and interpretation. The Attitude is the lens through which one perceives, interprets, and archives his or her life, but IT IS NOT THE LIFE. When one looks at a map of New York City, it is not the same thing as walking its streets. When one looks at the stories of history books, it is not the same thing as having been there. When one looks through the eyes of his or her Attitude, it is not the same thing as what is being seen. We point this out because the shift in July moves in emphasis from the MODE to the ATTITUDE. Your Attitude is your collection of maps. One’s Attitude is never just one map, but many, and always a collection that supports the same basic system of interpretation and superimposition that you are working to explore. This system is described by the name of the Attitude, One begins to collect maps of the terrain of their life soon after the 2nd Internal Monad, or when one actually begins to develop his or her own stable mobility. The maps used at 10 years old are very different from the maps used at 21 or 45 or 75, but they can be strikingly similar, with the maps building in extensiveness rather than in replacement, though a complete replacement of one’s maps can and does change, depending upon imprinting. As with our own Overleaf System, or any mapping system, the system of interpretation and superimposition is fairly neutral, and cannot determine the experiences that one will have when actually exploring the “terrain.” For example, the Idealist or a Spiritualist Attitude do not have an easier time, or a better perspective, than a Cynic or a Skeptic, but these different Attitudes do have very different systems of interpretation and superimposition; very different maps. One of the reasons we find that the cycles of a year move through an emphasis on the Attitude is so that all Attitudes may have a period of time each year to “see” the maps that may not be their own. We might compare this to one person becoming rather dependent upon a Subway Map of New York City, but then finding themselves looking at a map of walking tours through the Parks of New York City. It is not that one is better than the other, but having exposure to both (and more) can greatly enhance one’s understanding of the city, and this can be said about your own exposure to the different Attitudes and maps that are used around you. You will always return to your own map, but there would come to be a sense of these other maps that can be carried with you and understood, even if not your default map. This allows you to understand the greater collective experience. To deny this expansion would be similar to someone describing New York City only terms of its Subway routes, denying all maps of waterways, Restaurants or Parks or Museums, etc. There is a necessity for multiple maps for a single terrain, because a single terrain offers up multiple layers of experiences. Your Attitude is not the truth, it is merely your means of exploring the truth. Soul Age often corresponds to the number of maps one can carry, if you will. The younger the soul, the fewer the maps, and the more invested and engrossed one is with the maps that are one’s own. However, as the soul grows, the Personalities begin to carry around more maps, or put in terms relative to our Teaching, the Attitude expands. As the soul ages, its corresponding Personalities seek to understand more and more maps that are not one’s own, and this is why we share the Energy Report. Understanding the collective world as it is being explored through a dominant, collective Attitude, helps one to expand upon one’s place within the largest map of all, that eventually includes all of you. As July unfolds, the collective emphasis is moving into the Attitude of Spiritualist. This means that the shift of perspective, or the system of interpretation and superimposition, is one toward POTENTIAL and POSSIBILITY. As with any move through cycle, there tends to come an “entrance” through the more focused, restricted, and often fearful Negative Pole, and eventually a move into the broader, more inclusive, often loving Positive Pole. In this case, it would mean that July will probably begin by exploring Potential and Possibility through the more restricted, fearful, and focused lens. The perspective would be one that still emphasizes Potential and Possibility, but may tend toward the worst-case possibilities and potentials. This is not a bad thing. It is natural, and is intended to be a helpful perspective. One cannot explore the greater and preferable possibilities and potentials without, first, exploring the potential pitfalls and possible hurdles. The Negative Pole of Spiritualist is described as BELIEF. Belief is (consciously or unintentionally) confusing what MIGHT be true for what IS true. Just because something may be true does not mean that it is true, but Belief will insist that something is true, despite all lack of experience, and it often requires a rejection of feedback, facts, and discernment. If Spiritualist Attitude is about “what could be,”, then BELIEF is the insistence on “what could be” as being the same thing as the truth, instead of remaining as a potential truth. Belief is synonymous with Faith, or more accurately, Blind Faith. Beliefs are systems of interpretation and superimpositions that you have decided are true, but either have no evidence or support for that truth or perspective, or have rejected all evidence and support for the contrary. Belief could be understood as a map that has no terrain, or when one insists that the map IS the terrain, and blindly moves about based upon determined symbolism, rather than on feedback, facts, validation, discernment, etc. BELIEF is not necessarily a “bad thing,” as the Negative Pole is entered precisely for the process of discernment, validation, feedback, etc. It is an opportunity to look at what you Believe vs what is true. It is only when one decides to remain there that this Negative Pole is “negative.” Having a set of possibilities and potentials is something that experience helps to weed through so that what is true for you can come to light, not only in terms of a Personal level (what is true for you), but a Global (what is true relative to Earth’s species, sciences, and nature) and Universal level (what is true of the Universe regardless of what is true for a species or planet), as well. Holding on to those possibilities and potentials (whether “good” or “bad”) is not the same thing as remaining in the Negative Pole. Once one has an understanding of all that he or she thinks or knows is possible or potential, then the aim is for the Positive Pole, which is VERIFICATION. Verification is the process of validating what you may have been told, or what you may have decided, is possible and potential. It is the measuring of the map against the terrain, and either updating the map, or replacing it. Verification allows one to see what is true, rather than simply insisting on what is true. Again, if you carry around a set of possibilities and potentials that have no validation, that is not the same thing as Belief. Some truths take time and energy to uncover, build, discover, validate, and know. Everyone carries around a great set of potentials and possibilities, but it is only when there is no interest in Verifying these that there comes to be fear, blind faith, and Belief. And so it is that July may come in as an awkward mix of sensing and anticipating exciting prospects, but finding oneself directing attention toward potential problems or pitfalls. Knowing these are possibilities, you can go forward and Verify, but if you treat these as truths before that, you have fallen into Belief. Remember that while there is an emphasis on the Attitude now, it is being built from the previous emphases of the Goal and Mode, and the Role and Center.... The “season” of the Attitude helps to put together all that has come to be experienced in the first part of the year, by not only and brings in the mapping systems for helping to determine where to go, next. We think that as July unfolds for our students, it might be experienced as an extreme between overwhelming disorientation and striking clarity. This would depend upon how much you might feel you must sort out as you pivot into a direction that is of your choice. As this year is one that we described through the Role of King, Emotional/Instinctive Centering, Goal of Growth, and Passion Mode, then it goes that we are seeing a great portion of our students passively or actively stripping the life of anything that goes against a sense of Mastery, Inspirational Perception, Evolution and Meaning, and Self-actualization, or bringing more of “you” out of you and into the world. July may be the first month where this begins to sink in; that you may be leaving a great deal of “you” behind that is no longer supportive of the directions you would like to grow. If you find that July has launched into a state of overwhelm, we suggest that you consider using your own Attitude, whatever that may be, to interpret your life in the best possible light you can, because the collective Attitude of Spiritualist is supportive of this. For those who are experiencing the greatest overwhelm, we suggest that you are seeing the results of a shift you have been longing for, for a very long time. The next three months would be of some importance to you for stabilizing yourself as you pivot, but allow yourself the freedom for these changes and invite yourself to expand your map, or your collection of maps. When one has been in a momentum for a long time, the shift can seem shocking, but there would be very little chance of avoiding that. Sometimes when one has been traveling a road for a long time in the dark, when the lights come up, the turn that had always been intended is “right there,” and to swerve onto the nearest off-ramp is the only way to get onto it, which means you may find yourself thrown about a bit. If you find that July has launched into a kind of state of clarity, we suggest that you consider using your own Attitude, whatever that may be, to consciously choose your priorities. You may not be in the same position as those who are overwhelmed, but you could easily fall into this if you do not follow through with your own perspective of clarity toward those things that have come to be understood as your priorities. Prioritizing will not eliminate your other potentials and possibilities, but will simply help to fulfill the potential and possibility of that which is most important to you. Keep in mind that our Energy Reports here describe the experiences of those who tend to be actively participating “in the world,” but those who may have more insular lives might not find much relevance here. Helpful thoughts over JULY might be: 1) I CAN HAVE ANYTHING I WANT, BUT I CANNOT HAVE EVERYTHING I WANT This is an important phrase for those seeking to accomplish or fulfill anything that requires time, experience, patience, energy, and effort. Possibilities are always infinite, but you can only do so much, and experience so much. When one presumes that one should be able to have everything one wants NOW, it can halt the progress and effectiveness of nearly every effort. When one presumes one should have all of the priorities of possibility, or none at all, progress and effectiveness can greatly diminish. Organizing possibilities into priorities helps create a circuit of effectiveness and progress that can help one to remain inspired, to grow, to master, and to enjoy this life. 2) THIS MAP IS NOT THE ONLY MAP As July unfolds, it will be helpful to remember that, no matter how invested you are in your truth, even if backed by experience, there are other versions of interpretation and superimposition that exist just as validly as the one with which you have come to be so invested. Often, the greater the change in your life, the more likely the necessity for you to upgrade your way of interpreting your life. You will never be without your map, but you can sometimes find yourself lost in it, instead of living it. Remembering that your map is not the only map, and that the map is not the terrain, can greatly free you to understand and enjoy any great changes that come into your life. DATES OF INTEREST JULY 4th - 7th - this is not a Divergence or a Convergence, but something we might best describe as a “window.” This period of time might be experienced as exploring several possibilities, either in the imagination, or through conversations, etc, or it may simply come as a kind of floating, limbo-like period. These “windows” tend to be generated when there is a sense of a greater collective shift in the year ahead, and this helps to align or move away from that greater shift. JULY 27th - Another “window,” with an emphasis on comparing perspectives (internally or externally) among those closest to you about plans for the rest of the year.
The Book of the Books », 2018.
  6. [Excerpt from Energy Report: July 2010] MEntity: Spiritualism could be described as the philosophy of the immaterial, intangible, and non-physical as potential forces to consider. This philosophy can range from the more obvious spirituality that is often contained in religion, and personal values that include the concept of a soul with realms beyond the physical, to the intangibilities, hypotheses, and theories of science, along with thought, emotion, and anticipated long-term consequences. The Spiritualist philosophy does not always manifest as stereotypical religious, pagan, new age, or other metaphysical spirituality, but can manifest as a consideration of possibilities, long-term consequences, and the factor of thought and emotion as it plays in the world of action and result. ...

    Blind Spots of Attitude: Stoic

[Excerpt from NMW: Blind Spots of Attitude] MEntity: The Stoic, basically, sees the world as if it has all been seen before. Most things are not surprising. Most people are not surprising. Enthusiasm is not denied, but it is a prized resource that is used quite carefully. When the Stoic embraces the mundanity of life, there is a kind of TRANQUILITY that is embraced. Things and people are not required to be surprising. They are not required to entertain or be more than they are. There is a kind of peace in the familiar, rather than a boredom or resentment. This familiarity is not something that is clung to, but rather accepted as a force in life that is as meaningful as anything new and exciting. However, while the Stoic embraces the mundane, it is done so with the understanding that surprises will happen. They are as built into a life as mundanity. If the Stoic goes too long without a surprise, then the Attitude can fall into Resignation. If the Stoic is overwhelmed with too many surprises, then the Attitude can fall into Resignation. The Stoic, then, has her Blind Spot as DISCONNECT because she is either tired of the same old things being repeated and presented as if new and surprising when she presumes she already knows all there is to know or experience regarding that thing, or the Disconnect comes because too many new and exciting surprises are tossed into the mix that pushes the Stoic into Resignation. It becomes sensible to the Stoic to simply Disconnect, turn off, tune out, because it is all going to be the same things again and again anyway. It becomes sensible to the Stoic to simply Disconnect, turn off, tune out, because too much is too much and rather than navigate it, it simply needs to stop being the focus. When the Stoic finds she is tuning out, turning off, Disconnecting, it is likely because she has found it difficult to process too much of the same thing, or too much of a new thing. The return to Tranquility can come when the "too much" is removed from the equation, and is replaced with moderation, rather than shut down. In addition to this, the Stoic in Disconnect and Resignation can do well to remember Experiential Differentiation. This is the truth that, regardless of how many times one experiences something, there is always potential for that experience to bring something new, meaningful, and valuable. There is more we can say on this subject, of course, but this is a quick synopsis.
  8. There was a 7 Stages of the Goal NWM done a few years prior that hasn't been thoroughly finished in terms of what each term means for each Goal. I think finishing this off with another session would be a nice addition. In addition, learning about the 7 Stages of the Mode and Attitude would also be fine additions, and can further help flesh out and validate each trait.

Blind Spots of Attitude -- Cynic

[Excerpt from Michael Speaks: August 2015] MEntity: The Cynic, basically, sees the world in terms of opposing the obvious or appearances or common assumptions. The Cynic knows there is almost always more than meets the eye. The Cynic, then, is always looking beyond the surface, always willing to look in the opposite directions, always interested in the contents, not the packaging. This is CONTRADICTION. When in the Positive Pole, the Cynic simply Contradicts the obvious. This is similar to questioning, doubting, and allowing room for being wrong. However, when the Cynic falls into the Negative Pole of Denigration, it is because he cannot accept that what is known is all there is. The simple truth or the lack of complexity can trigger Denigration, or the breaking down of something or someone beyond its capacity to break down. It is Contradiction for the sake of contradiction rather than as a means to know more. The Cynic learns that sometimes, and more often than not, there is nothing more, no hidden or secret meaning, no blind dichotomy. Something or someone is simply what can be seen, experienced, and known. So the Cynic questions and then that is that. However, the Cynic can develop a Blind Spot that prompts them to continue questioning, continue breaking something or someone down, and this turns into an Obsession. Some of the most outlandish conspiracies are perpetuated by Cynics in Obsession. Denigration is seen as a necessary evil that is noble and important to impose, even as it means making up and stretching facts beyond recognition. The Spiritualist and Cynic are similar in their fall into "beliefs" in this regard.

    You And Your Attitude

[Reproduction of Michael Speaks: You and Your Attitude] [M_Entity] Hello to all of you. We are here. We understand the topic to be that of Attitudes as they are defined within our teaching. Of course, there are 7 Attitudes, as there are 7 of every other Overleaf in our system. The 7 Attitudes are the Neutral or Assimilative PRAGMATIST, the Inspirational Stoic and Spiritualist, the Expressional Skeptic and Idealist, and the Actional Cynic and Realist. The Attitudes are specifically your personal means to interpret reality. The Attitudes could easily be said to be The 7 Basic Philosophies, as much of what is our more complete system now has been found isolated in various teachings throughout the ages. Each Attitude can easily find a correlation of a philosophy, which can shed a great deal of light on your personal Attitude. The Attitude could be said to be the “pivot” or “hinge” within our Personality System around which all other facets of your Personality move. Because the Attitude is intrinsically linked to your Intellect, the Attitude can “make or break” your sense of peace, trust, wholeness, etc. Whether you are Intellectually Centered or not, you still have an Intellect, and that Intellect works hard to interpret and make sense of reality. So, too, does your Attitude. It will go a long way toward freeing you from the traps of the Attitude and Intellect if you understand that it is not necessarily “the point” to “make sense” of reality, because literally, it is the opposite: your senses MAKE reality. Though we say your Attitude “interprets” reality, it may be more effective to understand that your Attitude “filters” reality. Both are valid descriptions. Though an Attitude is far from an imposition, it CAN be a limitation if you find you are not able to function within your ;particular Attitude's full spectrum of use. It can easily be said that, from the absolute worst struggles, to the most trivial of frustrations, these experiences are directly a reflection of how you are using your Attitude. When your Attitude is in its Negative Pole, regardless of what that may be, you have determined that you have completed your need for input for your basic philosophical stance. When the Negative Pole of the Attitude is in control, reality loses its creativity and flexibility, and instead becomes a tangled mess that must be understood immediately, even if the means to do so have not even come to pass. We can speak generally of Attitudes because the basic experience is quite consistent; it is the HOW of it all that is different among them. For instance, an Idealist in the Negative Pole and a Cynic in the Negative Pole will both share the struggle of trying to understand something within a limitation of input, but the Idealist will “naively” bumble his way through, while the Cynic will use “denigration” to destroy anything outside his comprehension. In the case of the Cynic, we do not mean an attempt to literally destroy, but that the Cynic will actively fight to remove any contradictions from his determined perception. In the case of each Axis of Attitude, you will find when they are in the Negative Pole, the reaction of the Attitude is to eliminate the Positive Pole experiences. When the Stoic is “resigned,” he will use inspiration to lead others into resignation, to validate his own perceptions. The Spiritualist will use inspiration to impose his beliefs on others as strongly as possible, to remove the need for verifying his perceptions. The Skeptic will simply express strong suspicions, riling others into an insecure space of perception, to remove the need for investigation. The Idealist will naively take on lofty goals and intentions, either with or without awareness, setting himself up for failure, so as to remove the experience of coalescence, which is the bringing together of parts to make a whole. The Cynic will actively remove all that contradicts his own determined perception. The Realist will insist that her perceptions are based in fact, even against the strongest of feedback that she is inaccurate, so as to remove her from having to be Objective. In addition, the Pragmatist will continue doing things, thinking about things, expressing things, exactly as they have worked for her to her satisfaction, regardless of the fact that input is dictating that there are more practical ways for the same things. The reason the Negative Pole is so strongly interested in eliminating the Positive Pole experiences is because the Attitude is the “brother or sister” to the Chief Features. We speak of these traits with anthropomorphic descriptions, only for the sake of relating, but we do not wish for you to mistake this means of description as if these parts of you are a separate consciousness. We do not say that they are, nor do we imply that they are. Because of our limitation of time, we will quickly point out what we believe may be the most important concern for your understanding of the Attitudes. Since the Attitude can be your prison or your means to complete freedom, we believe that when you are struggling in any area of your life, the first place to look would be to your Attitude. In understanding your Attitude, you would clearly be able to see that you may be in the Negative Pole, but the fastest and most effective means to move yourself out of it, is simply to choose a different angle of perception. Since the Attitude, while in the Negative Pole, so intently seeks to remove the experience of the Positive Pole of your Attitude, the “trick” is to use the Positive Pole of the Attitude that shares your Axis. If the effort is made, within minutes your life can change; or at least your attitude toward it, which can then lead to changing your life. When the Spiritualist is lost in her Beliefs and continues to find she is blocked from real, fulfilling Verification of her perceptions, it can free her to “slide” to the Positive Pole of Stoicism, which would be Tranquility. When Belief is in control, there is usually a strong need to get others to share in the belief, even if you, yourself have not Verified its place in your life. When the Spiritualist slides to Tranquility, she relaxes and surrenders gently to her perceptions. This then allows her to Verify things for herself, instead of finding others to do it for her. On the other hand, the Stoic may have given up on his life, resigning, which is a passive stance to the life. If he were to slide to Verification, he would be able to find that much of what he has resigned himself to is not even valid anymore as an imposition. We may not be able to go through all of the Attitudes with examples, but we will note that the Pragmatist has the ability to slide to ANY of the other Attitudes as a means to free himself from Dogma. We will now take any questions you may have, so we can respond to you, rather than use your time teaching what may already be available in print. QUESTIONS [MDFSage_Val] Can you describe a “spectrum of use” for an Idealist, or is this more an individual fragment thing/issue? [M_Entity] An Idealist lives within the spectrum of being “cursed” and “blessed” with the constant want for improvement. The Idealist has such a wider vision of most things that he can see patterns where others cannot. Within those patterns, he can also see how they can be improved, manipulated, or altered for the better. The struggle then comes from the Idealist being able to see the big picture, but not putting the effort into defining the STEPS it will take to get there. Therein lies the spectrum from Naivety to Coalescence. An Idealist can see that he has potential to run a marathon, but instead of taking the steps to prepare, he simply, naively runs in the marathon, until he collapses from the pain he could have avoided. [Suzanne] Michael, How would be best for an idealist & a spiritualist to relate to each other, one expresses while the other inspires? [M_Entity] The Spiritualist will always interpret relationships in terms of how inspiring they are, while the Idealist will interpret the relationships in terms of how much improvement is coming from them. [Suzanne] Rather interesting, as it can compliment. [M_Entity] If the Spiritualist feels her relationships are not inspiring, or that she is not inspiring, she will lose interest. The Idealist must feel as if the relationships are somehow improving each other, or he will feel they are not worth it. [Suzanne] Thank you, I understand better now [M_Entity] We are using pronouns randomly, for the sake of grammar. We are not intending anything to be specifically assigned to a gender. [Suzanne] Understood that too, thanks. [M_Entity] The Spiritualist could be said to be “cursed” and “blessed” with the philosophy that everything has potential. Within that spectrum, you will find the experiences ranging from blind faith or belief to valid verification of those potentials. We will point out one last point for your consideration before concluding tonight. When you are in the Negative Pole of your Attitude, you may find you are behaving more and more like the Attitude sharing your Axis, or attracting, or attracted to, those who share your Axis. This is your inherent move toward balance in perception and even if this is done without awareness, it manages, at least, to continue to give the option of choosing how you interpret your reality. So, an Idealist may tend to be very critical and skeptical as a means to balance his Idealism; the Spiritualist may find she is becoming less and less emotional and more passive as she seeks balance for her Beliefs. We shared as much as we could within your time allotted. We have much more to say about this topic, of course. We will conclude here. Good Night to all of you.
  12. [Excerpt from OMW: You and Your Centers] MEntity: The INTELLECTUAL CENTER, then, has as its Basic Functions the regulation of your impact, effect, and presence on your path in this life. In its simplest description for this exchange, we can say that it is how one navigates between HONESTY/Innocence and DECEIT/Jaded. This is everyone's way of testing out behaviors, traits, and negotiation in terms of their effects, impact, and presence in form. It is directly linked to the ATTITUDE. No matter what your Attitude, in terms of Axis, it is your INTELLECTUAL CENTER that runs the core of your basic philosophy about this life. One cannot test out one's philosophy without experimenting in the range between Honesty and Deceit, both in terms of others and the self. The Attitude cannot function in any healthy way without this Center moving more and more toward Honesty. The more one limits his or her sense of Expression, which can show up as false personas, lying to oneself, lying to others, not questioning inherited philosophies, avoiding contact, evading society, etc. the more one falls into Deceit. Or Jaded. In Positive Health, this Center could be described as ENCOURAGED. In Negative Health, it can show up as DISMISSIVE. The means by which the Attitude is held in the Positive Pole is at its best when one is Encouraged, or Encouraging. The most direct way of healing this Center is through QUESTIONING. By this we mean that one does not operate from a higher proportion of presumptions and prejudices than one does from curiosity and inquisitiveness. So the question here, for your assessment of health of the Intellect, is in how often you feel discouraged, jaded, avoiding of contact vs curious, inquisitive, and having an impact. How often do you turn to your sense of encouragement over your sense of dismissiveness?

    Realist Attitude

[Excerpt from Energy Report: July 2014] Reality is often divided between what is real to yourself, and what is real to everyone. Some lean toward emphasis on only what is real to themselves, and others tend to lean toward what is real to everyone. For example, if there is a railing lining a boardwalk, it is real to everyone. It just is. There is no one who will come to that boardwalk without that railing being a part of the reality. If they come to the boardwalk where there is no railing, they are in a different reality. There is a consistency in what is a shared reality that is not dependent upon beliefs, upon individuals, and upon expectations. It just is. And then there is the individual reality that is based upon interpretation, experience, history, fears, expectations, beliefs, etc. So that very same railing that just “is” can also be offensive to some, and beautiful to others because of personal aesthetics. If two people bang into the railing, one will simply own his stumbling into it and move on, while another will be angry and blame the railing for being of poor design and in the way. So that single object exists just as it is, and then it also exists as it is experienced and interpreted. That is the simplified range of “reality." For the Realist, it is an on-going practice to reconcile those two fairly distinct points within the range of reality. Most Realists will choose one over the other, particularly in younger Soul Ages, but in the older Soul Age, it becomes important to reconcile one's personal experience of reality with the reality, itself. And this is what is meant by the Poles that make up the Attitude of Realist, with its Positive Pole of Objectivity, and Negative Pole of Subjectivity. As with all of our system, “negative” only describes a more limited, restricted end of the spectrum, while “positive” only describes a more expansive, inclusive end of the spectrum. When one is in Subjectivity, one can only interpret reality in term of what it means to himself. It does not matter what it means on its own, or to anyone else. When one is in Objectivity, the personal experience is allowed, but does not usurp or eclipse the validity of the independent reality or the reality of others’. If a Realist in the Positive Pole bangs into the railing, he will allow himself his reaction, note the personal reality of that experience that was probably painful, but also just note that it was a railing. He bumped into it. That is all that happened.

    Stoics in Social Situations

[Excerpt from Michael Speaks: October 2015] [Kurtis] Hi Michael. I'd like to ask how the Stoic appears/acts in social situations. [MEntity] The Stoic shows up in social situations as fairly unflinching, unsurprised, and sometimes uninterested. The Stoic has a built-in capacity for slowing down processes so that reactions are either evaded or diminished in a way that does not betray those processes underneath the surface. In the Positive Pole, the Stoic can seem cool-headed, attentive, and informed, but without the biases and reactionary prejudices that might often dictate the perceptions and behaviors of others. In the Negative Pole, the Stoic can come across as tedious, lacking passion and interest, lacking attention, and generally difficult to communicate with. The difference between Tranquility and Resignation is fairly clear and distinct in the social situation. The Positive Pole Stoic could be described as being calmly present, whereas the negative pole may be described as defeated distraction. For the positive pole Stoic, even when there is little expression and reaction, there is an aliveness, but when the Stoic is in the negative pole, there is a draining effect that can be felt by those around her.

    The Balanced Realist

[Excerpt from Energy Report: September 2014] As you pass through September, try to keep in mind that the balanced Realist has the ability to function in objective perspective even while subjectively experiencing. The Positive Pole of Objectivity includes your Subjectivity; it does not exclude your experience. The extremes that have been experienced by many of our students has been in Subjectivity, which can show up as either overwhelming submersion into experience, or numbing, paralyzing distancing from one’s experiences. ... Objectivity helps to bring a better picture of experiences, but still allows for the experiences that are part of that picture.
  16. December 3, 2011 OMW: Year Review MEntity: Hello to each of you. We are here now. The workshop requested today is that of consciously reviewing your year of experiences so that you may carry with you into the next year that which is of benefit to you, and release that which is not. This process of Review happens on a Personality Level almost-yearly, but almost always subconsciously, and not with a great deal of comprehension. There are various levels of Reviews that happen, as signified by some of the planetary Returns in your Astrology, such as the Jupiter and Saturn Returns, and also by any collective Instinctive Centered Year, or major events and choices in your life. In short, Reviews are happening "all the time" in some form, but it usually takes a major event to truly bring comprehension of that Review. Unless you use your power of Choice to bring a Review into comprehension at will. The Review process that we will discuss today is one based upon your Choice, your willingness. It is a conscious Review. Time periods or recurring events (such as holidays) are excellent markers for taking a moment to Review, and the end/beginning of a year is usually quite significant to most. We will define "Review" here as: the process of awareness, integration and comprehension of experiences. Awareness is the Intellectual recall of experience. Integration is the extraction of meaning from experience, or the Emotional/Inspirational element. And Comprehension is the building from those experiences, or the Action element. What most lifetimes/Personalities tend to do is to leave a trail of experiences that are then gathered up only after the death of the body. The cliche that "people never really change" is based upon this, because most fragments while incarnated in a Personality really do not change in any discernible way, because there is a great lack of Awareness, Integration, and Comprehension of Experiences. Most lifetimes tend to be a series of consumed experiences that do not get fully processed. To put this into perspective: imagine that a lifetime equals 100% Experience. Most fragments, while in a body, are Aware of only 10% at most, Integrate only half of that 10% at most, and Comprehend even less. In other words: 90% of what is gained from a lifetime of Experiences comes AFTER the lifetime ends. A lifetime of experiences over a 70 to 100 year span bringing only 3% Comprehension leaves the Personality at the end of the lifetime feeling quite bewildered with "where the time went," what he or she did with his or her life, etc. If Review were a regular part of the lifetime in Comprehensive ways, or if this were considered a valid and vital part of educational systems, lifetimes would look very different. That being said, it is also a glorious luxury that a Personality is NOT required to Review. YOU get to LIVE. That is all you have to do, if that. It is not your responsibility, nor is it particularly appealing to go into Review on any regular basis during a lifetime. The opportunities are there, and sometimes they are vital (signified most of the time by near-death experiences prompting Review), but they are not required. However, as the Soul Ages, and the Personalities grow more and more conscious during the living of a lifetime, manifesting Essence more and more, the process of Review becomes quite an interesting prospect. YOU want to Review because YOU equals Essence. "You" always equates Essence, but not always consciously, which is the differentiation between "manifesting Essence" and not. Today, then, we will share with you ways that you can Review using tools that are useful as Personality, as well as methods that are used by Essence, usually reserved for after death. Before we go into those, we will first suggest the methods for settling into your Review. You do not have to do these during this workshop. Draw from memory at least 3 significant events of your past year. There are always 3 or more, whether you realize that or not. There a multitude, in fact, but in terms of memory, there should always be available at least 3 with which will come to AWARENESS. Divide your previous year into four sections of three months each (i.e., Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec). To the best of your memory, determine in which section the events occurred. [Martha] event meaning some particular occurrence, or could it be some longer term theme/project etc? MEntity: Martha, "significant" is the key here. It could have been a moment, it could have been a project, it could have been a word, it could have been a day, etc. The degree of significance to you is what is important. By "significant," we mean that it meant something to you that stayed with you in some way. If it was a long-term event of significance, it can be noted as to where it began, but it can also be noted as to which sections it spanned. By just doing these steps, you have worked through the Awareness and Integration elements of Review. The next steps, then, will have more immediate significance and resonance, if this process works for you, as your examples can be worked with. A continuation on the Integration element: The four sections of the year are now labeled by the Overleaf emphasis that the season tends to bring with it. This may be different for those in the different Hemispheres, and whether the climate is rather steady, or not, there will still be these "seasons." For simplistic purposes, we will describe the climates where most of our students are, and this can then be translated appropriately. Jan-Mar=Winter=GOAL Apr-Jun=Spring=MODE Jul-Sep=Summer=ATTITUDE Oct-Dec=Fall=CHIEF FEATURES Obviously, these are not exact to the shifts in Seasons, and in fact there are more "seasons" when technically speaking, but this is a symbolic mapping that need not be confused with more technical differences. [Maureen] Is it your personal Overleaves in effect or is this only the "effect" of the yearly, transiting Overleaves? MEntity: In extreme climates that transcend the more "traditional" shifts in insolation for the year, such as closer to the poles and equator, we would still suggest dividing up your year for Review as suggested, as it is symbolic, as we said, but there are some differences in your process that we will address. There a multitude of ways to define "seasons" on the planet, so we will use this mapping that helps to cover the point of Review, rather than as a way to describing shifting temperatures and cycles of the planet, itself. In your identifying where in your "seasons" your significant events occurred, you have gained insight into which of your Overleaves was being activated as a primary process for that event. If your significant event occurred in Jan-Mar, it is directly and most-significantly linked to your GOAL. If your significant event occurred in Apr-Jun, it is directly, and most-significantly, linked to your MODE. And so on. To expand upon these: GOAL = the state or quality that every action in your life is aimed at comprehending. MODE = the method through which you access inspiration, and use that for developing Relationships. ATTITUDE = the means through which you communicate/express yourself to your world, and interpret the communication and expressions from your world. CHIEF FEATURES = the habits used to protect yourself from presumed dangers and threats to any of the above. All of this falls into the elaboration for Step Three, by the way. [Maureen] So if you went into "action" during the Oct-Dec time period -- would that be in "reaction" to your Chief Features? MEntity: We do not understand your question. [Maureen] If this time period is related to the CFs -- and you "act" or create at that time -- is this related to the Cfs? MEntity: No. When we get into examples, this may be clearer. Before we continue, we will take one of you as an example for how to utilize step three, and help you walk through the assessment. Who will volunteer? Just one, for now. [Maureen] me? MEntity: Yes, Maureen. [Maureen] do you want me to give you what I have? MEntity: Share one significant event and in what time frame it occurred. [Maureen] OBSERVATION, PASSION/RESERVE, REALIST, CFs (STUBBORNNESS, SELF-DEP, IMPATIENCE): People “insisting/wanting” to pay me Apr-Jun($), Jul-Aug(barter), Oct-Dec($). MEntity: So that we are clear: these are the same events of significance, occurring at different points in the year? [Maureen] yes - similar events / so the "same' – yes MEntity: This would then count as ONE significant event, even if it is cycles or repetition, and we would go with where it began: in the realm of your MODE. However, it will still "mean something" that it occurred in these other seasons, and we can address that. The arcing of significance, though, would be in that this is a Significant Event regarding Inspiration, your Mode, and Relationships. Our walkthrough with you will lead to step FOUR) Comprehension. What will lead to Comprehension, is the full Integration from step THREE, which is making sense of what this means to you. In this case, having the symbolic context of your Mode, Inspiration, and Relationships, it seems almost "too obvious" that this Significant Event is a process that is inviting you to relate in ways that bring the circuit of Inspiration to a wholeness in your Relationships regarding your services. It was an opportunity for you to Comprehend that your services have value that, while difficult to quantify, CAN be quantified in a way that helps that Comprehension. Therein lies the Comprehension, or Step Four: you are PART of the equation of value, not the entire equation, in a Relationship, in any terms of exchange. In terms of your own Mode of Observation, then, it would mean that this Significant Event should be glaring, obvious, and clear, and if it is rejected, you are not seeing clearly, or refusing to see clearly what is so obvious. [Maureen] I can see it – lol MEntity: Yes, you can. And by using this Review, you can then build from the Experience in a way that changes you, rather than hints at possibilities that you refuse, deny, or resist. Does all of this make sense to you? [Maureen] yes it does MEntity: Another example from another student is requested. Yes, Janet. Share as Maureen shared. [Janet] I participated in a dance competition in June, first in many years. I did not do well for a variety of reasons. But it haunts me now. I'm in Power mode. Might be my self-dep that alters my impressions of it now. MEntity: What part of June? The closer to July, the more one would want to consider the next" season" as well; in this case, the Attitude. [Janet] Mid-June. But I am Stoic. MEntity: NOTE: Any Significant Event that resides on the cusp of a "season" would do well to consider the context next to it. [Janet] And goal of Dominance to complete the sequence... MEntity: A fair span of consideration for a cusp is 3 days before the next context. In assessing your Significant Event, Janet, one would consider the event in context: in your case, in the context of Power Mode. Keeping in mind that "MODE = the method through which you access inspiration, and use that for developing Relationships," and that Power Mode is about relating through your degree of PRESENCE, we can begin to extract the significance of this event, or Integrate it. In this case, you went on full display, not only for others to see, but for you to see, just how PRESENT you are with yourself. Were you fully merged into the movements of your dance? Were you present with yourself *as a dancer*, or were you distracted by your past performances as a dancer, or your future assessment as a dancer? [Janet] Oh bingo MEntity: This is significant to you because it let you see where you are in your use of that Mode, in your use of Power, in your willingness to Be Present (in relationships). [Janet] So if you do not or cannot make full use of your mode, you may miss opportunities? Is this a way of evaluating how to approach future events? MEntity: And therein lies your Comprehension, or Step Four. That you fall into Oppression of yourself to protect yourself from the presence and power of others, rather than stand in your own Authority and confidence with whatever, however, and wherever you are with yourself NOW. [Janet] Very valid. And in retrospect all my previous good showings at comps made full use of Power mode. I see it now. MEntity: You will always make "full use" of your Mode. It is your Mode. It is functioning in one way or another, be it in Authority, or in Oppression. The key here is in your Conscious Review: continue to condemn your performance and lose all useful meaning (Integration) from it, or retroactively allow THAT PERFORMANCE to be OKAY. Take back your Authority, and bring yourself back to you (Presence), by understanding that it was its own performance, and not a defining moment the wipe out all other performances, past, future, or present. [Janet] A most helpful Review. Thank you. [Maureen] So is that how the CFs come into "play" -- at the end of the year? As we look back we "assign" a "negative" or "positive" reaction/response to our events? MEntity: Maureen, that is valid. The "season" of Chief Features tends to be when most do any kind of Review, but when done without Consciousness, there tends to come only a review of what went wrong, what needs to change, what you will do differently, etc. And then the cycle perpetuates in the new year. [Maureen] and I just saw Janet "shift" -- so if you allow yourself to shift from a "negative" to a "positive" view you can pull your OLs into the positive? MEntity: Yes, Maureen; it is an immediate effect. [Janet] But is it also valid to use what you know about the seasonal impact of the overleaves to prepare yourself for a coming event? MEntity: Janet, because this mapping is based in Review, it tends to be the case that it is only useful in retrospect, rather than in anticipation. [Janet] Ah. But I imagine some awareness won't hurt in the future. MEntity: However, knowing the "seasonal emphasis" can help you to gauge your anticipated events in a way that then allows for more immediate Integration from within the Experience. [Janet] I can see that. MEntity: For instance, had you known about this before your dance, you could have brought a consciousness to your dance that embraced your Power and presence. But that is also a realization that one can make at any time of the year. When your Reviews are only based upon what went wrong, what needs to change, etc, then it tends to be the case that your entire next year begins with Actions/Goals that stem from disappointment, failings, etc, and the stories repeat in many ways then. When you are RELATING, consider your Mode. When you are fulfilling intentions, consider your GOAL. When you are socializing and communicating, consider your ATTITUDE. and so on. What we have shared so far is a symbolic mapping of your Year in Review that helps you to bring Awareness, Integration, and Comprehension. Keep in mind that nearly all of what you have labeled as "significant events" comes with great benefit, if Comprehended. When there is lack of Comprehension, even the best of events can be dismissed. When Comprehension is involved, everything is amazing and beneficial. However, it is not lost on Essence that many events of significance simply cannot be Comprehended while within the confines of time and space, and in those instances, the freedom you give yourself NOT to comprehend (until you can) is a Comprehension in itself. To clarify our mapping of the year, the reason Chief Features are assigned to Fall, is that it is an Assimilative time of year, and therefore brings up the Instinctive Center, which often prompts fears. Assimilation is a process of filtering and organizing experiences, and this often means letting things die for the sake of rebirth, if you will. What we have shared with you is a process that is a crude parallel to how Essence Reviews an entire lifetime, except in far more detail and analysis, but your participation while from "inside" the life adds a level of profundity to afterlife Review that can only come from your participation now. Imagine the difference between walking a path through a grove of fruitful trees carrying a basket for collecting those ripened fruits, and taking time to eat many of them along the way, versus walking through that same path without a basket, and only carrying a few fruits in hand, able to maybe eat part of one along the way. The basket and the eating are your Awareness and Integration, which naturally lead to Comprehension, or a full basket at the end of the life. To continue with our metaphor, it would be similar to handing over whatever fruits are in your arms at the time, but leaving many uncollected. Some fragments "hand over their fruits" as their arms fill, and some just keep piling on top until older fruits drop off, and only recent fruits are then collected, or the other way around. [GeraldineB] What about the ongoing Reviews with Essence, i.e., the 7-year Review? MEntity: Geraldine, in most instances of Review, it is merely an uploading process, if you will, for Essence to sort through. It is not a Comprehension on the level of Personality. [Oscar] Do Scholars collect more due to their more frequent uploading? MEntity: Oscar, in keeping with the metaphor, Scholars come with their very own truck, but again, their collecting and uploading does not equate Comprehension. To share with you more creative, Personality-based Review, one can also use such things as intentional synchronicities, or oracles. Creating a layout for a Tarot Card reading of your year can be helpful. Looking at significant Transits in your Astrology can be helpful. Casting Runes, etc. [Janet] I'm sorry but what is an "intentional synchronicity"? MEntity: Janet, we used that phrase to describe the intent for a system of randomness to act as a representation or reflection of specifics. [Janet] Oh, like tarot cards or the like. MEntity: That is an example, yes. [hanna3175] iching! MEntity: Correct. Intentional Synchronicity. The intentional aspect is important, as it defines the circuit used for symbolic communication. Anything can be used when using Intentional Synchronicity. This is how dreams and omens can become significant to some. It is a valid means of establishing a language between Personality and Essence, or "the universe," etc. [Maureen] The question posed "creates" the answer -- that is why the "question" is so important -- even with you Michael! MEntity: Even the arrangements of toppings on a pizza can be "read," if there is a system defined/intended. Tea Leaf reading is no different from reading toppings on a pizza, for that matter. This process is a use of the Higher Moving Center, or the capacity for extracting Beauty. The ability to recognize patterns from within randomness. It is a skill that requires honesty, however, because it can also lead to "seeing" anything in everything. In conclusion today: By using the map we have described, and the steps for moving through Awareness, Integration, and Comprehension, you can begin your 2012 on a higher cycle, if you choose, rather than as a repeated cycle, or as an extended cycle. By "higher cycle" we simply mean that it continues to build upon what has come, rather than circles back to it. We will work with Troy in sharing in our next Open Monthly Workshop then just how one might start a higher cycle after a Comprehensive Review. NOTE: in your process of Review, we suggest taking your time, playing with various ways of understanding your significant event in terms of how it benefited you, and not simply making note of them and then discarding the process if it is frustrating. It can be daunting, we know, but it is an exercise of a "muscle" that is latent and fairly ignored, so it will not always seem easy or fun, at first. If you find you are not making any sense of your Review, or not getting to your point of Comprehension, as revealed by a sense of relief, "a-ha" moment, or enthusiasm, then set it down and come back to it later. Your life will still be there.

[Excerpt from Energy Report: July 2012] As July unfolds, the collective emphasis is moving into the Attitude of Spiritualist. This means that the shift of perspective, or the system of interpretation and superimposition, is one toward POTENTIAL and POSSIBILITY. As with any move through a cycle, there tends to come an “entrance” through the more focused, restricted, and often fearful Negative Pole, and eventually a move into the broader, more inclusive, often loving Positive Pole. Beliefs are systems of interpretation and super-impositions that you have decided are true, but either have no evidence or support for that truth or perspective, or have rejected all evidence and support for the contrary. It is only when one decides to remain there that this Negative Pole is “negative.” Having a set of possibilities and potentials is something that experience helps to weed through so that what is true for you can come to light, not only in terms of a Personal level (what is true for you), but a Global (what is true relative to Earth's species, sciences, and nature) and Universal level (what is true of the Universe regardless of what is true for a species or planet), as well.

[Excerpt from Energy Report: September 2013] Remember that the Negative Pole of Idealism is the intent to fulfill a vision or ideal without full consideration of the steps, responsibilities, or consequences. One simply thinks the vision or ideal is enough. That vision or ideal either justifies whatever comes next, which can lead to some fairly heinous and irresponsible behaviors, or there is complete shock and dismay that the ideal did not pan out. Idealism is fueled by the concept of “should,” because it is an Attitude that compares what is with what should be. That “should” is subjective, of course, but that is not often the challenge. The challenge is in the presumption that because something or someone “should” be, then it will or can be. That presumption is Naivete. ... If you find yourself struggling with a wave of “shoulds,” and distracted with a vision or ideal against which you hold yourself, yet have no plan, no steps, no help, no sense of responsibility for the necessary efforts to fulfill that ideal, no willingness to do the work, or if that ideal comes at the expense of other important things in your life, you may be dancing with Naivete. This would tend to feel as if the reality of that vision is “so close, yet so far away.” And then you may fall into limbo. If you find you are in a state similar to the above, then it may be time to either make the choice to do the work that fulfills the vision (which includes the research, planning, effort, etc) or to realize that you may have other priorities that require being addressed before you can fulfill your vision. For example, some presume they “should” not have financial struggles, but then do very little to pursue an income. This is because they often have ideals on top of ideals about where and how that income “should” come, and anything less or different must be failure or deemed not worth the effort. Or one may be seeking a long-term change, but presume the change “should” be faster, easier, and is an entitlement, not requiring so much effort. We speak of those who are in positions where the capacity to choose is not removed, not of everyone who struggles in the face of imposing adversities, of course. If you find yourself in any positions where “should” is descriptive, then you are playing with Idealism in some way. ... “SHOULDS” AND “COULDS” AND “WOULDS” are friends If you “should,” then it is best to know and feel if and how you “could,” and even if you “would.” This may seem shared in jest, but they are the triad of empowerment for the fulfillment of ideals. Should is the idea/ideal; Could is the potential and possibilities that must then be narrowed down to a workable plan; and Would is the willingness and effort one is capable of affording. These are the Intellect, Emotion, and Action necessary. These are the Truth, Love, and Energy in everyday words that build your momentum in the life. If any one of these is emphasized without the consideration of the others, there is often little movement or fulfillment.

Idealism- The Path to your Ideal

[Excerpt from Energy Report: August 2013] ... When there is an emphasis on Idealism, the support is there for helping to improve upon some element or aspect of the life, a relationship, or the self. That sense of support can turn into a sense of pressure or anxiousness if it is not used to move you toward an ideal. That support is like a current that is dammed, and it will, eventually, help move you toward the ideal, break the dam, or recede. To clarify one's personal ideals, all that is necessary is to pick one. Regardless of one's Overleaves, there are always elements and aspects of the life, a relationship, or the self that one seeks to improve. Pick one. That is all that is necessary for allowing the current of support to be of benefit, and to shift from being a pressure. Once you have picked one, the energy would shift to being supportive, but you will still have to do the work of the steps necessary for bringing fulfillment to the ideal. However, with the sense of pressure shifted to a sense of enthusiasm and support, your creative processes, openness to Agreements, and your synaptic pathways begin to be used far more productively. If you have clarified your ideals, but still feel a bit of anxiousness or pressure, it is most likely because you have not considered your part in the next steps necessary for fulfilling that ideal. Simply having the ideal is not enough. You must map out your next steps. For these students, we suggest writing down your next step or steps. We suggest literally writing this out. There is a drastic difference between typing and writing when it comes to synaptic pathways and body memory. Typing is beneficial for a number of reasons, and can always complement writing, but freehand writing is vastly more beneficial for any method of expression regarding memory, planning, or changing/nurturing synaptic pathways. Write out your next steps, then type them up. Typing will tend to leave your words “floating above the neck,” so to speak, while writing will help move thoughts and feelings throughout the body for use in planning, memory, and shifting of synaptic pathways. Clarifying and mapping out your ideals now can be key to helping shift away from the pull of the Chief Feature “season” coming in October. Pick one thing you wish to improve, describe your next steps, then do the work. If you find you are blocked, or that the improvement is daunting, choose a different one. The important thing here is that you experience your participation in the active improvement of at least one thing. That experience then helps to bring momentum to the more daunting improvements you may wish to pursue.

    Idealist Attitude

[Excerpt from Energy Report: July 2013] The Attitude is a description of one’s basic philosophy about life. It is the filter through which experiences are interpreted. The Idealist, then, interprets life in a way that is optimistic, but is constantly aware of the room for improvement. The Idealist always sees how things can be better, often in terms of how they “should be,” but rather than use this comparison to undermine the moment, the Idealist usually just aims for “better.” This can work for or against the individual who is an Idealist, depending on factors in the function of other Overleaves, and the presence of the Chief Negative Features. When Idealism is in its Positive Pole as Coalescence, it will not only see the room for improvements, but it seeks to understand and implement what that vision of improvement will require. Coalescence is the coming together of parts for the fulfillment of an idea that has become a vision. When idea and vision combine, they become an ideal. When Idealism is in its Negative Pole as Naivete, the room for improvement will still be seen, but the aim for that improvement will come from an uninformed, ignorant, or innocent unawareness of what that vision of improvement will require. It is presumed that because one has decided upon how things “should” be, then it is only matter of deciding that is how they should be. There is no concern or consideration for all that would have to come together for that ideal. Furthermore, there is often a complete lack of understanding that the entire concept of an “ideal” is relative, and not always the same for everyone. When speaking of Idealism in terms of the year, and in terms of this being a philosophy on a more collective level, it would tend to be a year that is focused on grand improvements in some obvious ways. Because this is a Sage year, we would think this would come in terms of anything regarding entertainment, technology, information, communication, and social structures. ... Over the course of July, August, and September, there would tend to come the impact of the breakthroughs or collapses of those ideals, and an effort to continue building upon the ideal, or an effort to return to the Positive Pole for those that have collapsed. Even with the best of intentions, the greatest ideals can fail if there is naivete in the process. One can push and push for the ideal, but if the parts are not coming together in coalescence, the ideal will remain an ideal. ... This is an Exalted, Expressive Attitude, so this is not a quiet Attitude. The gentle “voice” in your head, the impulses, the nudges and the intuition would tend to become more pronounced over these months, even if you are not an Idealist in Attitude. The sense of necessity for making things better may focus on specific areas of the life, or the overall quality of the life, or even toward the world in general, or toward the lives of those close to you.

    Idealists in Social Situations

[Excerpt from Ask Michael - April 5, 2015] [Kurtis] Hi Michael, today i'd like to ask about how the Idealist appears/acts in a social situation. MEntity: The Idealist in social situations is constantly measuring against an ideal. Both the self and others are being assessed, sized up, compared, measured, and calculated in ways that can be mind-boggling to those not an Idealist. Idealists can be of the most clearly and strongly-opinionated of the Attitudes, with some of the strongest arguments in support of those opinions and perspectives. Idealists can tend to read the languages of your body in ways that go far beyond the use of your words. Idealists will often respond more to what was not said than to what was said, because Idealists can see/hear beyond the facades or measured responses. Idealists are so prone to looking beyond what IS and into the projected patterns from what is, that they can sometimes be out of sync with the experiences of others around them. In other words, while others may see/hear exactly what is being said/shown, the Idealist is accessing dimensions that extend from there. In the Positive Pole, there is Coalescence. This is the pulling together of the necessary parts that fulfill the ideal or the assessed pattern. This means that the Positive Idealist may compare, measure, assess, and predict accurate patterns, but always remembers that there is more. There will always be more. This Idealist may be very clear and accurate in her understanding of the self or another person, but always makes room for variables. The Positive Idealist is not conclusive. This lack of conclusivity and room for variables is also what makes them of the most Naive, the Negative Pole. Idealists will often "see the best" in you, in herself, even as there is neglect, abuse, and pain. Idealists can, also, hold you or the self to a standard of expectation that is often unmatched, leading to another version of Naivety that is constantly pitting you against what SHOULD be. So Naivety can show up here as the inability to discern what further parts might be necessary for fulfilling an ideal, or show up as the inability to see that there are no further parts so the ideal cannot be fulfilled. Idealists will always tend to challenge your resting place for what is expected of yourself, themselves, and others.
  22. [Excerpt from Ask Michael - February 1, 2015] [Kurt] Hi Michael, Attitudes appear in social situations, so I was wondering if you could talk about how Spiritualists appear/act in socializing. MEntity: In the positive pole, Spiritualists will tend to be listeners and hear you out, no matter what you are saying. They will tend to be open-minded, and give you the space to share your truth, without feeling compelled to agree with it or challenge it. They do not feel you are asking of them to believe anything, and they do tend to trust that you would do the same for them. In the negative pole, Spiritualists may tend to use you as a launching pad for sharing anything that might add an "oohh or an aahhh" to the exchange. The sharing is far more conclusive and sometimes even competitive in terms of challenging beliefs. In other words, they can tend to stretch the truth just to hear you react in awe, or to drown out your own beliefs if they are not interesting to them. In social situations, look for the Spiritualist to be the most indecisive, or the most decisive if in the negative pole. In the positive pole, they would help make the decision, but will not impose one. There are more symptoms of the Spiritualist in social scenarios, but this is a bit of an idea.

    Skepticism- Philosophy of Doubt

[Excerpt from Energy Report: July & August 2011] Skepticism is the philosophy of doubt, or questioning through expressive means. When Skepticism is in the Positive Pole, doubt and questioning comes in the form of Investigation, which is an expressive means for gathering information to make more accurate assessments, whereas the Negative Pole of Suspicion is still doubt and questioning, but without the communication and media of expression. Investigation asks the questions, while Suspicion accuses or keeps the questions to himself. WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK YOUR QUESTIONS “out loud.” For those of you who have fallen into doubt as your means of sustaining or defending Dogma, it may be time to ask the questions you fear asking, or asking the questions you may not have considered asking. It may be an important step toward freeing yourself into a more Practical perspective.

Stoic Attitude and Higher Moving Energy

[Excerpt from Energy Report: September 2015] Many of our students have had a more difficult time moving through the emphasis of energy of the Stoic Attitude, so the experience of Resignation (the negative pole) may start to become heavy, and begin to crack and release the Higher Moving Energy in startling ways that are working to clear the perception of Resignation. However, because it is a rise from the Negative Pole, it may not look or feel pretty as you free that energy. It may be experienced as a low rumble that carries with it the weight and implications of Resignation, or it may burst forth unexpectedly and in disturbing ways. In either case, it is an indication that you have fallen into Resignation, which is a defense against Chaos, a defense against not being able to see clearly, and is a false form of calm. As your Resignation begins to break down, either in bursts or in more controlled release of pressure, it may take you a while to collect yourself, clear the air, and return to Tranquility. Tranquility is confident serenity, and the capacity to adapt and adjust perceptions as a means to remain calm, truly calm, as a means to see clearly. The higher patterns may not be clear, but the more immediate patterns are addressed and navigated as a vital part of helping contribute to the higher patterns. As your own Higher Moving Energy comes out as controlled or unleashed Chaos to clear up Resignation, it is clearing a path to Beauty and Tranquility, to Resonance and calm, and because it is still a Moving Center, it will require effort. It will not happen on its own. The force will not carry you. You must make the effort to take the reigns of your energy and perceptions back into your own hands. This same energy can be seen in the world around you as controlled or unleashed chaos breaks through from the various large pockets of defeat from resignation and the work of clearing paths to resonance, beauty, and calm continues. For some, where there is a refusal to rise beyond the negative poles, this will likely come out as a means to impose and enforce resignation upon others. Imposed resignation rarely goes well, and even for those who have moved into Tranquility, the pain of this will likely be obvious in the world. Tranquility will be difficult to sustain, and the sense of resonance very difficult to feel with “the world,” but keep in mind that Tranquility, Resonance, and Beauty, do not equate magical solutions, do not equate easy or guaranteed happiness. In fact, as is true of all positive poles, Tranquility and Beauty means allowing room for the chaos and the ugly. It does not go away just because you know there is more than that. It does not get solved by higher or clearer perceptions. The positive poles here only mean that you now own your power of choice, your power of navigation, your power of actions, reactions, and perceptions, and you do what you can, when you can, and how you can, and you know when you cannot.

    Pragmatist in Social Situations

[Excerpt from Ask Michael - June 7, 2015] [DianeHB] Hi Michael, could you talk about how the Pragmatist appears/acts in social situations? [MEntity] The Pragmatist in the Positive Pole can show up as attentive, quiet, and observing of how others are maneuvering, behaving, functioning, and producing, offering insight, feedback, and direction only as necessary or as beneficial to the dynamic. The Pragmatist in the Negative Pole is your micro-manager, your "nit-picking" and badgering presence, either in obvious ways or in passive-aggressive ways that are not productive, but tend to actually undermine efficiency. By "efficiency" here we mean that an intended effect is lost in favor of the feeding dogma. Because Pragmatists can be using any other Attitude, this benefit or undermining can come in the guise of any other Attitude. Many Negative Pole Pragmatists are known to say something along the lines of "I'm just being truthful." This is not limited to Pragmatists, because all other Attitudes can also access the Pragmatist. An Idealist can express the same if he's using Dogma, for example. However, most other Attitudes do tend to stay on their own Axis and not involve Pragmatism. As usual, the above is highly simplistic and not indicative of the complexities of a human being, but it can be helpful in understanding the dynamic of a trait. [Excerpt from OMW - Sep 16, 2012 - The Circuitry of Overleaves] [Diane_HB] I often notice myself using Observation in social situations, not necessarily Pragmatism. [MEntity] Diane, keep in mind that Observation Mode is not literal observation. You may find yourself observing others, but this is Pragmatic for you. Keep in mind that Pragmatism is a philosophy, a filter on reality. In a social situation, that will either manifest as being Practical, in your actual expression of self, in your exchanges, and in your evaluation of the worth of those exchanges, or as Dogma, stuck in routines that you have learned as a way to filter people out. Dogma may show up as an inflexibility in what you find worth talking about, if you talk at all. Many with Pragmatism will be those who walk into a social situation, and then quietly, eventually, exit and wonder why the attempt was even made.
