Community Mood Tracker [experiment]

Recommended Posts

Troy

ADD AN ENTRY EVERY DAY!

Help us track the community mood and compare to Nexus and other shifts!

Depending on how this goes, I will set one up each month and create various ways to sort the data.

I'm not sure just how we can use this or what is the best format for input, so this is just an experiment so I can see how better to improve on it for later.

This is such a fantastic idea!

Any chance of setting up a daily email reminder so we can remember to do this every day?

Once I see how I can better improve the format and use of data, we can add more serious functionality like that.

Can we have "ok mood?" 😉

I am serious, though. Sometimes I'm none of those  listed and just ok.

I did some research on different "moods" and "ok" falls into Good.

@Troy Should we make an entry a day or is it one per month?

As once daily as possible for August.

Normal/average energy would also be good. Something between "high" and "low".

I went with "high energy" for normal; I'm getting through the day without much trouble, but I'm not bouncing off the walls or anything.  If I were getting through the day, but with an uncomfortable level of tiredness, that'd be low energy.  If I were actually cancelling plans because I'm too tired to handle them, that'd be no energy.

Oh, Good point. I'll add that to the next one in September!

Revisiting this, I will probably add this "ok" option to the next one in September.

Is manic energy like bouncing from high to low within the same day/hour/minutes? Or is it more hyperactive in an uncontrolled manner? I feel like I am fluctuating between high and low energy but not sure whether manic would apply to what I feel.

The problem in general  with middle ground options like ok or i don't know is that people select them too easily, because most of the time we are not feeling extreme about anything, whether it's a mood or an opinion in a poll. When i filled the mood tracker yesterday, i would have selected ok had that been an option, but because it wasn't,  i had to dig deeper to realise that i was actually in a slightly bad mood. During the day i realised it was indeed true, i had trouble keeping my emotions steady when people annoyed me. So i don't know what to suggest here in practical terms, but normally options like no, mildly no, mildly yes, yes work better than no, neither, yes, to track opinions/whatever, for the lack of an easy go-to option. Just a thought!
