LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:
WHEN YOUR OWN BLIND SPOT WAKES YOU UP

I woke up this morning in a panic because I suddenly realized from the foggy stupor of White Privilege and deep indoctrination of American cultural appropriation that the use of the "fortune teller" turban in my Causal Coffee intro is likely highly offensive and highly inappropriate.

 

The cultural appropriation of religious headwear has gone on for so long that we have stopped associating it with its origins and associate it with shady fortune tellers and scam performers.

And that is the joke: that the turban is a playful mocking of my own profession as a channel and all of the baggage that comes with the negative stereotype.

 

So you see what happened there? A sacred symbol was taken from another culture and exaggerated to the point of mockery and symbolic of dishonesty and scamming and we no longer associate it with the original groups from which it was appropriated... BUT, this use of the turban adds to the subconscious reaction to anyone wearing a turban and whether we like it or not, contributes to "otherness" and alienation of a people, often putting their lives in danger just from that one symbol.

 

So I will be removing the intro from the current episode and reshooting the intro more thoughtfully. I considered doing this more discreetly, but I really wanted to use this as an opportunity to, hopefully, show that it is not the end of the world to own a blind spot and that there is no need for elaborate defenses or explanations of our intentions. Just... own it and fix it.

 

It doesn't matter that this was a gift from a beloved friend or that my intentions were to make fun of myself. It doesn't work like that. I have to own my blind spot and my intentions must take a back seat to fixing this.

To anyone offended by my actions, I am deeply sorry and am correcting this immediately.

Being Cadre Mates, both 6th Old Sages, both having inspirational Axis casting, one Server, the other Priest, having nearly the exact same E-Ratio and Frequency, (Troy, 25/75, 89, and Nick, 20/80, 88), Troy's C1E2 loaded with Sages & Artisans and Nick's C1E7 loaded with Servers & Priests, Troy having an Artisan E.T. and Nick a Server E.T.

with overleaves of 5/6/5 for Troy and 4/4/6 for Nick, and being Michael Channels.

 

Keeping all the above data in the back of my mind during the show, whilst observing and listening, was a grand experience for me as a Michael Student, thank you!!!

I watched this today and love it so much!! @Nick Sweeney (Babylove) I totally get what you were saying about channeling feeling like jumping into the deep end (something like that). I did some test readings that are a kind of channeling, and when I do it for others there’s no immediate validation like I do for myself. It’s so hard not to get my insecurities triggered. I’ve been wondering how @Troy manages to channel the things he does without feeling absolute terror. I guess that’s why channels have to practice getting out of the way.

Yeah, @DianeHB, it really is a process in learning how to get out of the way and embracing selflessness (or pure 100% essence manifestation)...because "it really is not about you!"

 

All you can do is be present and try...over and over again, and you have no control over the results.

 

Sometimes you seem to be clear and accurate and can validate that (just enough to make you think you are getting better, lol!), and then the next time it's like you're back at square one.

 

Of course, I suppose it would all look different if I had been doing it for 20 or 30 years...

 

I guess other pursuits in life are not so different...you just show up and try and hope to get results...and you either do or don't over time.

 

But channeling IS different in the sense that it's an art...

 

Also, I found that bringing $$$ into the picture brought allot of added pressure "to perform" and "be good".  And I think I may have moved to that stage too soon before I had a more solid foundation of consistency and clarity.

 

There was clarity and accuracy, and that was validated regularly...but there were big gaps for me that made me wonder...

 

And let's face it, Troy's work is extraordinary and quite unbelievable.  So, that standard of comparison is a high standard indeed.

 

All that being said, I "invited Michael in" today while babysitting at the park and "held them" for a few minutes as I walked around and watched the little one play.  I hadn't done that in quite a while, and it was intense...and I began to swell with emotion and cry...and there was something in it that makes me want to come back to it...and maybe being in such a different place in my consciousness and life (due to moving through the 5IM) would shift the experience in a way that I would find more balance, consistency, refinement and validation...

Yeah, I resonated with that when you mentioned it. Charging money definitely ups the ante and expectations, and rightly so. I was considering offering readings on my website, but wavered about it after I did a few practice ones and realized it wasn’t as easy as I thought, even with positive feedback. LOL. I’ll probably keep doing practice readings for now.
