A Girl Like Her

This started out as a documentary about a successful high school and quickly turned into an expose of a bully, her life, and the lives of students she influenced. Beautifully captured and portrayed. An emotional watch.

It was interesting to watch this and observe my own emotional response. In the past, I would have viewed this and identified with the young girl, reliving my own personal experiences as a teen. Previously, I would have wanted to swoop in and save her. While I'm still passionate about importance of advocacy, it was free from my own personal agenda and need to identify with another.  At this time in my life, I was amazed by how I was able to stay in observation, rather than shifting to power and the internal desire to rescue and save. Reflecting on the 4th IM, it feels as though I am working my way through and feeling better about myself each day.

OOOHHH.  I guess we all knew kids like this.  I am glad I never 'grew up' with social media, at least in this lifetime.

Those mid to late teens years seem to be a time when certain people really show their mean and heartless side.  I suppose it relates to the 3rd IM and/or manifesting a Young Soul age, totally disconnected from Essence.

This shit goes on today, it's commonplace. Anecdotally (and I have a great, great deal of experience in dealing with High School 'emotional bullying') girls are worse than boys, who tend to be physical bullies, rather than emotional ones but popular female cliques tend to manipulate boys into their web of intrigue. Social media is very unhelpful. That's being kind. @Diane I too am pleased to have avoided the whole social media thing, at an impressionable age.

@Diane I feel the same way. As a sage with chief features of arrogance and stubbornness, I know I would have taken to the internet in a poorly-thought-out- 3rd monad- fury about whatever injustice I felt was happening at the time. I would have associated my self-worth with how many "likes" or views I received. I'm grateful I was a little older by the time social media came around and feel so much love (and hope) for kids who don't have the blessing of "sanctuary" (time away from people, phones, internet, bullies) when they leave school for the day.

@Bobby What I loved about the story (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT) was that there was in invitation to see the bigger picture and look within. It's amazing that despite the constant need for attention and controversy, the bully only wants is to be uplifted, supported, and connected.

I love that part of our learning in this lifetime. Even when things are impossibly difficult, that glimmer of Essence shines through to remind us of our connection.
