I sure understand your frustration and anger.  That's how I got Covid a few months ago.  People claiming to be careful  weren't really being all that careful, came to stay (by another's invitation) and infected us all.  5 months later I'm still not 100%.  I am feeling a lot like you are - so overwhelmed - by the state of the planet, society, the world, everything - it gets hard.  Surround yourselves with all the love all of us here feel for you, wrap it around you like a cozy, weighted blanket, and ... just feel love and connected.  And I'm trying to take my own advice.

@Troy, thank you so much for posting that clear and helpful information, and for the update. I was just coming here to check on you and Bobby and ask if you're okay. I'm relieved that you seem to be. Love you!

I have wondered how you have fared too @Troywhile bf Bobby has had covid. Thank you for sharing how you maintained isolation, this helps me find a way through how to isolate in the outlay of my house. I hope others can apply isolation too when they need to in their home spaces. That has been the part that makes me wonder if it can be done, as different folk have vastly different home spaces. We could do it here. And I will return to this post if I or Yvonne become positive (both if us 2 primary Covid-19 vaccines doses and 2 Covid-19 booster doses plus wtf it's going to take to get to the end of this pandemic).

I am relieved that you didn't catch Covid-19 and that bf Bobby has recovered. I have had my 2nd Pfizer cominarty booster in the last 2 weeks, after a 6 month gap (eek). If I have had it, I've been none the wiser/asymptomatic. People here are a mix of no mask wearing dumbfucks ("I've had covid so who cares about wearing a mask and trying to protect people") and then there are decent people who wear masks, have had all of their Covid-19 vaccines, and are lying low socially.

I am glad you avoided this and that you take it very seriously. Thank you 💞

@Troy Thank you for writing that and for being so clear, informative and seriously, and for sharing the solutions you and Bobby made in your home. And I'm really happy you didn't get it.

Glad to hear you both tested negative!

I'm now wondering what folks can do if one person is a caregiver to someone with COVID like if you are taking care of children or elderly parents. I honestly didn't want to think about that until I had to, but I already had to do a PCR test a few weeks ago, that luckly came back negative after I learned that a negative rapid test means nothing. I suppose having a plan ahead of time for caregiver situations is best.

It's not that it means nothing, but if you test negative, you should test again within 24 hrs to confirm being negative. One Rapid negative test results is not enough.

This is how it was explained to me - imagine that Covid is like a whole bunch of turds hidden in a room. Rapid Tests check the room for those turds. If a Rapid Test comes back positive, it means it was pretty easy to find a turd, which is why a positive Rapid Test is almost 100% accurate. And remember, "if there was enough to detect, it is enough to infect."

But if a Rapid Test comes back negative, it only means that a turd was not found in one sweep. It doesn't mean there are no turds. It just means it didn't find any in one sweep. One sweep is pretty thorough, but it can miss detection, especially as symptoms begin to decline or at the start of infection. Two sweeps ensure that a thorough sweep is made. So if you run a second test and STILL get negative, you have made a very thorough sweep and it is pretty safe to consider that you are in the clear, turd-free. If you come back positive on that second test, it means you are definitely still contagious and infected because a turd was pretty easy to find.

A PCR TEST is like looking for that turd that someone has been hidden in a damn vent and maybe even smeared around. You can test positive with a PCR Test for months after being negative in a Rapid Test because it will continue to return positive until that vent has been cleared.

The real question is whether you were able to keep a straight face through that... 😂

Lol @Troy, I laughed so hard @ your turd analogy and perhaps it's bc I have an elderly cat who, tho he doesn't hide turds or have accidents outside his litter box, sometimes it can sure seem like it! 😆

I don't know if this applies for you (maybe in the future) but perhaps this suggestion (per a scientifically oriented article I read) might help someone else when we do a home test. Instead of doing only a sweep in both nostrils as per the instructions, it stated that to more fully catch viral particles, we first should sweep inside both cheeks, under the tongue, then the back of the tongue (to elicit the gag reflex) and THEN do both nostrils. This was shown in the article to increase the accuracy of the home test by a considerable measure. I'm sorry I don't have the article in question for reference but I had kinda thought that the sweep of nostrils alone felt a bit too superficial.

I'm really happy to learn that your diligence (and Bobby's) paid off well and you avoided getting Covid. I'm glad too, that Bobby is on the mend and he continues to improve on a daily basis. Here's hoping also that he avoids "long Covid". I too, share your frustration and anger @ humanity, as I have been very frustrated and angry too...it seems like forever but it's certainly been heightened this year.

I’m just reading this. Yikes! I’m glad you’re in the clear so far. I hope Bobby feels better, and things are settling down now. Quarantining in an apartment successfully is a huge achievement!

I got the Evusheld antibody shots last week. Have you looked into it? I’m stuffed full of 2 monoclonal antibodies now. My last booster was in Feb, so my NP set it up.
