I'd posted this back on September 11 of 2011 on the ning TLE site. Given the events of recent times it seems worth reposting. It is a speech given by Charlie Chaplin at the end of his 1940 movie The Great Dictator.

Wow!  This speech Charlie Chaplin wrote could be about how the internet is used today (both the good, and the bad).

 

Yet had he known the whole truth about the Nazi regime at the time, this movie wouldn't exist:
Chaplin, Charlie (1964). My Autobiography. New York, Simon and Schuster. p. 392. Had I known of the actual horrors of the German concentration camps, I could not have made The Great Dictator, I could not have made fun of the homicidal insanity of the Nazis
