Eric's Second Grand Cycle - Meditative Walking Stick

[MEntity] Your Second Grand Cycle appears to have been in an insectoid species that would look somewhat like large “walking sticks” from Earth, about the size of the Giraffe. This species was fairly sedentary, slow-moving, and meditative, evolving a brain that was something that could be considered cellular and not centralized. In other words, the cells of these bodies were networked through synaptic processes that let the entire body act as a “brain.” This species survived on a liquid diet that was extracted from excretions in trees and plants. This excretion was waste material for the plants, so the ingestion helped to keep the plants and trees from poisoning their soil. However, this foodsource was also intoxicating, so a great deal of the life of this species was spent with “one foot in the Astral,” so to speak. They never moved to be off-planet, and though other species visited the planet, they never recognized the creatures as more than a form of plant. Their movements were slower than that of what you know as the Sloth, and were barely discernable to other species. If one were to look at a family or group of this species, it would appear as a large brambling bush. This is because each fragment would link to another and share in thought, brain activity, pondering, etc. This species did little but exist for the sake of its existence, while pondering the nature of all that is, and eventually died out after the last of the fragments cycled off.

Maxim posted this video of a walking stick on the original Ning TLE post. I figured it was cute enough to carry over. The kid's reactions are priceless: "It looks scary, it pinch you!" "It pinch yo face!" "Little Creepoh! CREEEEEEPOOOOH!" :P
