AnnaElisa sings...

Hi!

I don't know if this is the right place, but I wanted to share a video from my latest concert. It's one of my favorite songs from Richard Strauss "For Last Songs" and it's called "September" and the poem was written by Hermann Hesse.

The English translation of the German lyrics:

The garden is in mourning.
Cool rain seeps into the flowers.
Summertime shudders,
quietly awaiting his end.

Golden leaf after leaf falls
from the tall acacia tree.
Summer smiles, astonished and feeble,
at his dying dream of a garden.

For just a while he tarries
beside the roses, yearning for repose.
Slowly he closes
his weary eyes.

I played this for my BF @Bobby Keating and he was enraptured the whole time. He knows his classical vocalist stuff and he said this was really great. Thank you for sharing this, @AnnaElisa!! You rock!

Thanks, Troy!! You make me really happy! ❤️ 🙂

And, curious and lurking as I am, I looked on Bobby's page and it turns out we have the same essence, casting, soul age, level, cadre, entity, centre/part and primary chief feature. 😄

@AnnaElisa, I enjoy singing (I have learned a little bit of classical this lifetime, and @Martha and I were castrati in one lifetime and we knew of each other), and I enjoy hearing someone who knows how to sing, sing with truth and their own "throat/anatomy/phrasing". I love the individuality of the expression of singing, it is a combination of technical mastery of forming those sounds with strength, proficiency and expression that I listen for. It really connects me to my essence and I can tell that you get the same essence connection. I am learning baritone ukulele which I enjoy and I play in a band.

Thanks, @Oscar! Wow, which orchestra do you play in? And what instrument? And YES, that horn solo is hauntingly beautiful!

Ever since I heard Vier Letzte Lieder for the first time, I've had such a huge respect for them that I didn't dare to sing them, and the same goes for my friend Beatrice who is playing the piano here. Then one day we were like "Just do it". 🙂 We cried the first time we went through the songs and through the tears laughed at Herr Strauss' capacity to really torment us with the painfully beautiful harmonies and dissonances. It feels like he makes me a better person with each bar...

I've always been a freelancer, so I've subbed/played in several orchestras. At the moment I don't play that much anymore due to other work, but there are two ensembles I'm still a member of. I play baroque and modern violin. As I understand Strauss originally composed the songs separately, and only after his death they were bundled and published together.

@AnnaD Wow, that's so cool that you were castrati together! Yes, I do feel very connected to my Essence when I sing. ❤️
I like the ukulele! I just can't stay sad when I here one! Tried to learn the split stroke once, but gave up! 🙂

@AnnaElisa, my band are past the happy vibe of ukulele, we mainly do depressing country or blues songs. Lol. We are not the ukulele in the first winning glow of the relationship, we are the dumped and drinking by themselves ukulele.

Anna and I´ve had our share of musical adventures. I have written several songs for her.

But check out this, not composition but arrangemang, of some Michel Legrand melodies. Dear Anna sings, I play the piano.

Lovely, if I may say so myself.

Glad you liked it (and said so), Petra.

Yes, I am the guy with the big problem with "likes". Sorry, sorry.

LOL! I'm trying SO hard to imagine this, but just can't! If you care to share something to get me out of my superhappy George Formby-prison, feel free! 😄

@Ladislaus (formerly Lad the Hun) , thanks for sharing! You made such a beautiful arrangement and you play so wonderfully!! I did my best in a genre that is not mine and to the French people in the forum I blush a little and say that my French has improved now... 😊 But YES, there is much love in this recording! ❤️
